What is the debate about animal rights? Have you recently come across people not respecting them?
Personally, religion is a minefield that I rarely touch, given that most of what I have to say about it is "fuck Christianity" even though I know that's a largely irrational reaction and that I have several very nice christain on my flist.
And are you feeling like there's not much conversation going on in your lj right now?
Im a member of the beauty101 lj group and a while back someone posted a link to cruelty free beauty products. I was completely shocked by the backlash against her. People were actually posting things like they "have the RIGHT to hurt animals if they wanted", or "go away hippy, we eat animals here". Im not a vegetarian but I believe in being as environmentally friendly as possible. I was a little shaken by the pure vitriol at even the suggestion of being cruelty free. The OP wasn't even being soap boxy about it. it was more a "hey guys, heres a list if youre interested." great question, by the way.

Could I bribe you to write this? Because it would be awesome and epic. If I watched more British shows, I would post on how 12 episode seasons and the prevelence of mini-series leads to better pacing.
critical (pos&neg) analysis of popular fanfiction (no one ever does this, ever, unless there's a Mary Sue)
This would be kind of epic, but would have a really small audience, give that most people would only read it if they had also read the fanfic.
muuuuuuuuusic as opposed to bandom.
Oh, bandom, please die. It fills up my flist, is of no interest to me, and is clearly using real people as blow up dolls. And totally is not talking about the music at all.
fanfic for my tiny obscure video game fandoms (it would probably help if I hadn't stumbled upon these fandoms, like, five years too late), especially of the hatesex variety

actually, just make that "my tiny obscure fandoms" in general, because I miss the days when I used to get annoyed that ATLA was eating up my flist. And I'm, like, craving fic right now.
I would say things like "politics" and such but honestly I don't keep up with the real world and am wary of only getting rants as my news source.
I do like talking about religion, but I've gotten worse about that too. Maybe I could use more practice.
I just... omg. It is my favorite ongoing WIP and it's already epic at 20+ chapters. It's a complete reversal of the slave cliche, a giant AU, and one of the top two or three most interesting explorations of a possible Water Tribe culture that I've seen in fanfic. It's like Dances With Wolves: Firebender Slave Babysitter Saga. At every point where I might be leery of the author making the wrong choice, it turns out that with a little patience from the reader, that right choice--that emotional payoff--is coming at the right time and place. I feel like I'm reading a decent novel. It has minor and plausible guest appearances from other characters as the story progresses. Oh, man, it's a season 1 fanfic written with season 3 analysis, foresight, and empathy. Anyway, totally read it.
I may sound rather shallow in my list of things, because it is not so much religion or politics, though I often find myself interested when they do come up, but they are also things that come up regularly in my life. There are books or TV series I'd love more people to be into and/or discussing, like Sharon Shinn's Samaria series, for instance, or Legend of the Seeker.I love hearing people talk about movies too- classic, or new, domestic or not. People all pick on different things and I enjoy reading about that. Strangely, though, I haven't seen too much of that for a few months.
Something I occasionally see, but would like to see more of, is writers talking about their process.
If you're shallow than I'm shallow, because all I want to have on my flist is squee about the awesomeness of Kahlan and how delightfully badass Cara is.
I'd love to hear discussion about religion that isn't Christianity. This is in part because whenever Christianity shows up to the party people start hating on it, and while I get quite a bit of the hate it gets tiring to remind people that the crazies don't make up the whole group. It is also depressing and hurtful to hear people slam one's beliefs with blanket statements and makes it feel like they're talking about you.
But I'd love to talk about Islam, because all I really know about them is that Muslims make awesome neighbors. And really beautiful architecture. I actually know a little more than this, but I love hearing about culture that stems from areas that practice Islam, and how their lives are different/more of the same to me.
I'd love to see a recommendations post for TV shows, books, manga, comics, anime, etc... because I'm trying to get back into some stuff (especially TV shows and anime), and I'm kinda overwhelmed right now.
Cool ways to be enviromently friendly would be fun, as well as the hunt to buy organic/responsibly on a budget. I want to help change the world but I still think of myself as a poor college student so it isn't always easy for me to do so.

This is one reason that I don't talk about Christianity that much; because I am just not rational about it.
I agree about wanting to hear more about Islam.

Overwhelmed by not knowing what to watch next? Because speaking personally, I wish people would STOP reccing me things, because I don't have time to keep up with fandoms I already know I love.

I kind of am too, only I don't really have time to read it, so getting recs for things just stresses me out.
