Today, I saw Planet Terror and Death Proof the way they should be seen - on a rainy afternoon with popcorn and friends who will tell you when to hide your eyes. (Seriously, during the end of Death Proof, I was curled on the couch with my fingers crossed and my hands near my face. And now I kinda want to watch Vanishing Point).

Also, I'm caught up on True Blood. Frankly, there was a lot of the last two episodes the either I didn't like or that bored me, so I'm just going to talk about what I loved, which was Tommy flirting with Jessica and the Hoyt/Jessica hookup. Both of which I can sum up in three words: it was hot.

Vanishing Point is really good! It's on netflix, and I recommend it. I kind of made it my business to watch all the movies they reference in DP, which I didn't succeed at, since White Line Fever and Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry are really hard to find...
Glad you enjoyed~!

...Tommy flirting with Hoyt? XD

Tommy flirting with JESSICA. God, I hate it when I do that.

And I look forward to Vanishing Point - apparently my mom wants to see it too, so it shouldn't be a problem to snag it from Netflix.

Lol, I do that all the time, too. And Emma just did it, quite appropriately, talking about "Luke and Leia's son", to which I replied, "Woah. Woah, check yourself." And she facepalmed. It was glorious.

Ha!

But sad that I'm missing out on Star War's conversations!

Lol, no worries, it wasn't too much a conversation... I'm making her write her 5,000 words, but somehow it came up. She's hard at work now.

Keep cracking that whip!

Planet Terror rocks my socks. Death Proof is also fun... but mostly for the women beating the shit out of whats-his-face at the end. XD

I haven't watched the most recent ep of True Blood yet but is it just me or did the second half of the season turn kind of "meh" in some respects? I think since the introduction of Crystal I've been extremely bored with bits of the episodes. Plus Sookie/Bill has also fallen a bit in the "meh" category. I did love the last ep and Sookie all, "I'm a fairy? How fuckin' lame." Pretty much what I would say too in that situation.

But for serious I need Eric + Pam flashbacks yesterday!

Yeah, I feel like Death Proof was two takes of the same movie, in some ways. You have the misogynistic version and then the feminist version.

Any given episode of True Blood is usually pretty rocky for me, but yeah, these last two episode in particular where blah. (And I fast-forward everything with Jason in it, so I have no idea how much Crystal relates to the over all blahs).

Pam and Eric remain awesome!

I've kind of liked Crystal the last episodes, actually. (I haven't seen the most recent one.) She's kind of fucked up, and she's grown up in a fucked up environment, deeply entrenched there, but she toughs it out in an interesting way, trying to back away from it until a catalyst dumps her right back in the middle. And she gives Jason an awesome verbal bitchslap. (I mean, keep in mind that I mostly fastforward through Jason's (and therefore her) scenes too, but I was listening to it while doing something else, and I pulled it up in time to see her knock him on his ass, which was cool.)

*nods* You know, in a different show (or if she wasn't constantly interacting with Jason) I think I'd really like Crystal. (Especially given something she does in the latest episode.)

I love Planet Terror to death. It's so camp and socks-rockingly awesome. Death Proof not so much until the very end, and I gotta say I enjoyed the stunt girls kicking the shit out of the serial killer.

EDIT: ...And I only just realized how similar my analysis was to mistaria's right above me. *FAIL*

Oh, god, Planet Terror is FANTASTICALLY campy.

*points to my comment to mistaria's comment*

But don't worry about it - I have OFTEN commented without reading other people's comments and regretted it.

I adore Death Proof. Planet Terror is okay, but DP is just ... freakin' awesome. My friend who introduced me to it's awesomeness swears we're Zoe and Kim, at least in the way we act. I can definitely live with that. *grins*

True Blood talk now! Okay ... I think I liked the last episode a little more than you did.

Obviously, anything involving Tommy, Hoyt, or Jessica is great. I felt so bad for Tommy with the way Sam was acting. I hate what they're doing with Sam. It seems so completely unnecessary and like the writers are just DESPERATE to make everyone as fucked up as possible.

I wanted to hug Terry so badly. He's such an adorable, sweet man.

Naturally, Pam was awesome. I love seeing a bit of emotion from her, but I hope it's not permanent. Like Eric, I love her better when she's heartless. *grins* And Eric ... while it's great that he's going back to the Viking roots and essentially going down with the enemy, I can't help but feel like there could have been a much easier way to get the job done.

Oh, and I fucking hate Bill. And right now, if Sookie goes back to either him OR Eric ... game over. They've done nothing but manipulate her and she keeps crawling back. Abusive relationship, hell no.

Agreed. DP is SO much more entertaining and awesome then Planet Terror.

I hate what they're doing with Sam. It seems so completely unnecessary and like the writers are just DESPERATE to make everyone as fucked up as possible.

Yeah, to me it really felt like they didn't know how to handle ALL THE MASSIVE ANGST he already had, so they decided to shove a double homicide into his past.

I wanted to hug Terry so badly. He's such an adorable, sweet man.

Agreed. What are your thoughts on Arlene?

And Eric ... while it's great that he's going back to the Viking roots and essentially going down with the enemy, I can't help but feel like there could have been a much easier way to get the job done.

Yeah. I wanted Pam to rush out and stake Russell now that he's weakened by the sun.

Oh, and I fucking hate Bill. And right now, if Sookie goes back to either him OR Eric ... game over. They've done nothing but manipulate her and she keeps crawling back. Abusive relationship, hell no.

Honestly? I still don't really care what Sookie does with her love life. Honestly, nothing Bill's done feels noticeably different yo me than much of what's happened in the last two seasons.

As much as I love the Jessica plot line, I honestly can't wait to see what Tara will do now that the cat's outta the bag.

Honestly, him confessing Egg's murder to Tara was probably the only remotely interesting part of his entire character arc. Or whatever remains of an arc, anyway.

True. I loved how ice cold Tara seemed when she confronted the Sheriff. I'm intrigued to see how it turns out.
