I Watched The Season Two Finale Of Castle

And oh, Kate. You picked the wrong man. So wrong. So very, very wrong. Seriously, the only reason to pick Rick Castle over Tom Demming is the money. Oh, sweetie.

I thought I was the only one behind on Castle! I didn't watch it until last weekend. lol As for her choice...

I think it was a "the heart wants what the heart wants" moment. And there was also a lot of miscommunication and misunderstanding involved in that whole mess.

Nope! But I'm probably going to get caught up today.

Not really; Castle behaved exactly like he always did, Kate broke up with a great guy, Castle went off to fuck around with his ex-wife.

[identity profile] siapom.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
But would Castle have gone off with the ex had he known that Beckett was no longer with Demming? That's the question. I'm thinking no, personally. But guess we'll have to see how it all plays out.

Although I will agree that Demming seems like a great guy. :) So, if Beckett's heart wasn't in it, it's better he found out earlier rather than later.

To me it really doesn't matter whether he knew or not: the fact is, romantically, Beckett is clearly replaceable for him, and he's not for Beckett, and that is a power differential I HATE.

True. It's better for HIM but I am so grieved for Beckett and that pairing. I thought they were so cute. And sexy. And a good match.

I can see why you would say that. Although, again just personal opinion here, I'm not sure I'd use the word replaceable. It's part of a whole sex vs intimacy concept that I've got going for Castle. And my reasoning, in part, is due to this season's premier, so I'm just going to stop there since I don't know that you've seen it, yet. :D

I look forward to continuing this discussion when I finish the next episode, then!

Deal. :)

[identity profile] ivanolix.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought they made that fairly clear—but I haven't seen that ep since it first aired. It seemed to me to be the typical "You're better for me, but I want that instead" scenario.

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, they did. I'm just really, really sorry that Castle and Beckett is the endgame ship.

[identity profile] nimblnymph.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? You think that'd be the only reason to pick Castle over Demming?

Don't get me wrong: I think both guys are fantastic. Demming is just fucking ... delicious. And he obviously has a lot of respect for Kate, too. But Castle, despite being a bit of a dork, is also very nice and he DOES respect her and what she does. Honestly, I'd be happy with the writing going either way on that: either Kate and Tom or Kate and Rick. *rubs belly*

To be honest, for a romantic relationship, YES.

(Actually watching this last run of episodes, I became more and more disliking of romantic Beckett/Castle, and I'm really sorry that its going to be the endgame ship.)

And he obviously has a lot of respect for Kate, too. But Castle, despite being a bit of a dork, is also very nice and he DOES respect her and what she does.

I think Castle respects her as a cop and a friend, but not as a romantic prospect, if that makes sense. I think he's friends with her, I think he likes her, but I think he wants to fuck her because she's hot, because she's Nikki Heat, and because she hasn't gone to bed with him already. Think about how it was framed when she was dating Demming: it wasn't that Rick had LOST something, it was that he wasn't used to LOSING (big difference, imho). If Castle and Beckett got together, Castle would win, and he's win in a way that would mean Beckett lost.

(Furthermore, I am super bitter about the fact that we've seen Castle get into one-night stand and go after chicks throughout the series, but Beckett dates ONE GUY and Castle basically says, 'okay, our friendship (and not just our friendship, but my friendship with all the people I met because of you) is over, Kate breaks up with a great guy who adores her, and Castle goes off to the Hamptons and doesn't call for four months.'

Just fuck you Castle, fuck you.

THIS. Castle has his daughter and his mother to go home to, and Kate has no one, but Beckett dating is treated like this great betrayal of Castle/Beckett by the show even though Castle finding relationships/one night stands is perfectly acceptable. And I hated his attitude the entire time Beckett was dating. I think they were trying to even it out: Cate was mildly jealous of Castle's attention to other women in many different episodes, so Castle was super jealous of her relationship, but it was just arrgh. That's not the way to make it more equal.

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2010-09-28 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
It's totally not, ESPECIALLY since in the end, Beckett always lets (or doesn't stand in the way of or gives verbal approval) of Castle's lady friends, but Beckett is emotionally forced to break up with Demming so Castle's feelings aren't hurt.

[identity profile] mollivanders.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh so seconded. As much as I love Nathan Fillion... Demming was the better choice. For her.

So I can have Castle? Heh.

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
You can have Castle wrapped in a bow. In fact, take him, please, please, please.
