Okay, does anyone have or know where I can find that fantastic icon of Beckett with her hair pulled back, wearing a NYFD jacket, just coming out of a truck? She's looking somber and the camera is angled up at her?

Freaking yahoo. Apparently they're 'upgrading' and I decided to just bite the bullet and change the interface. Yep, I sure do love my email program freezing and not showing emails and not having a 'delete' button at the bottom of the screen. Thanks a bunch!

I was really underwhelmed by the latest Doctor Who and disliked more things than I liked. Except for River Song. She was awesome.

Last week's fannish5 :

5 (canon) couples that seemingly came out of nowhere (thanks to anonymous).

1.) Veronica/Logan, Veronica Mars. I actually saw an image of the kiss before I saw the episode and thought to myself, nice manip, but that will never happen on the show. Oh how wrong I was. And frankly, their first kiss was pretty damn perfect.

2.) Aaron/Mohandra, Wonderfalls.

3.) Alex and her stupid neighbor/boyfriend, Nikita. Not like her and Thom, which had a great slow burn and made perfect sense for the show.

4.) Every relationship on Glee ever (sans Rachel/Finn and Emma/Will).

5.) Lanie/Esposito, Castle, adorable and yet also out of left field. It worked, though.

So, I'm finally current with Castle ( Spoilers for All Aired Castle Episodes )

So, for at least a two months, I've been really craving a good mystery-with-romance subplot, which is why I decided to slip the Castle tie-in novel into my order when I spent a gift card that I've had for a while. It was totally not a book I would have spent my own money on and I figured that it would be kind of trashy but fun.

I figured wrong.

I literally did not finish the first page before thinking, ohhhhhh, ghost writer has MASSIVE WRITING CHOPS.

It was like Ed McBain had done a rewrite of the Eve Dallas series. Sure, "Richard Castle" is working with several heavily-used mystery tropes, but he/she is doing so with skill and verve. The mystery is interesting and unexpected, the humor is black, the banter is tight, Nikki Heat is AWESOMECAKES, New York and the weather is practically a character, Jamison Rook is clearly playing second fiddle to Detective Heat, and the pre-sex scene? Smokin'.

Which is to say, I'm totally ordering the sequel. In hardcover, so I get a picture of Nathan Fillion on the back.

I really think that milady_milord  should have a hiatus on ficcy Fridays for a while. There are very few responses to the prompts being written, and frankly, that's not a surprise. Also, I think it's a bit harder to be enthused about comment memes like that when the show is airing a new episode every week.

So the next two questions all hinge, at their root, on lack of understanding. Which is not usually a problem I have with shipping. I can usually either explain why I like a pairing or understand, intellectually, the appeal of a ship, even if I a.) don't feel the appeal of the ship emotionally or b.) actively dislike it. So, after a long period of wracking my brains (it took longer than a few seconds), I have some answers.

–It is solidly my personal fanon (to the point I can hardly imagine any different), that Alexis grows up and becomes a badass DA.

–The more I type the word 'Castle' the more I believe it's misspelled. What the hell is that 't' doing there in the middle? Lurking in wait for dyslexic English majors who have just finished all their schoolwork bo-yah! that's what. 

–Typically I go for longer hair, but whenever I catch a season two episode I really miss Beckett's short, flirty 'do from season one.

Oh, wow, they really kicked the emotional impact up a notch this episode.
