I posted my questions on Damon's history with Katherine and as a deserter, and how those two facts don't quite fit together for me on [livejournal.com profile] tvd_fans  here.

I'd love some of my flists thoughts on it.

Also, I have tomorrow off, so if you have something random you'd like to talk about, feel free to hit me with it. Kiss with a fist is better than none, after all!

How do you like that comm? I've only skimmed on TVD comms so far, myself.

Also! Just caught up with TVD through 'Masquerade' last night, and locking Katherine actually in the tomb made me Pearl flashback and sadface.

We get so little Katherine on screen *alone* time (yes, writers, I get that you don't want us actually knowing what Katherine is up to yet, but... :P), but it would be interesting if they had shown us more Katherine and Pearl together- there's got to be more of Katherine's character to be learned through that relationship.

...Or maybe they will? Looking forward to the rest of the season. :)

In addition: my TVD friend and I talked a little bit about how the more we see of her it seems like Katherine only has a certain amount of tricks (MANY, but not infinite) in her bag, and she keeps pulling the same one/using exactly the same method with mild variations on every guy she uses.

Thoughts?

I disagree. I think that Katherine has a favorite mode of manipulation (getting guys to fall in love with her) but you'll notice, she only uses it on the guys it works on (Damon, Mason, that random flashback Lockwood). We've also seen her manipulate Stefan with the reverse (by saying she's in love with him; whether or not she's lying, I think it's clear she knows the effect her words are having), manipulate Caroline and Elena by threatening/harming the people they love, and straight up compelling people when it's most efficient.

Basically, Katherine is too effective at manipulation people into doing what she wants and turning bad situations to her advantage to be a one-trick pony.

In short Katherine is ~awesome~

I was a little disappointed in the comm, to be honest. I posted a piece of meta that I really wanted to discuss with folk, and the only people who commented where people who I'm pretty sure read the link on my lj.
