Yay for you! I have uploaded mine, but I will probably keep tweaking it.
Last year I had all sorts of stuff to do on the 25th so I just waited until late that night to do some reading. I was on at about 4am central time this morning and it was running smooth as glass - that would be about 2am your time I think - so if you're up to it late night and early morning are probably going to be when to binge and comment on fic.
Well, they'll send you an e-mail when yours is available (I think the e-mails go out as one big batch). I usually wait for that. It's a very cute e-mail (or has been in years past - I see no reason why they'd change it). So I just wait for my e-mail, read my story and thank my Author, and then start poking around for favorite fandoms.
(I'm not sure what my daughter's situation will be on the 25th (she'll be in the hospital still, most likely, recovering from her surgery), so I may not get to read anything much beyond my own for a little while this year.)
Well, my standard of "cute" may be lower than yours!
We just had the pre-surgical briefing. They will be only operating on her lower jaw (either or both were mentioned as a possibility, early on), and the surgery will take place Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. She will be on a liquid diet for at least 3-4 weeks. She should be well enough to attend classes when the spring semester starts late in January.
I've only been following yuletide the last couple years and betaing/handholding (more handholding) but I tend to check out the prompts in fandoms I'd be interested in reading (yuletide is the only fic I really take much note of, even now) snd pick a couple to look for first so I can go straight to those fandoms, instead of trying to decide on fandoms from the giant list, until things slow down.
For example: The Nikita prompts I've read (I haven't read all prompts) feature Alex being turned against Nikita by Division (no thank you) or want shipping/sexual stories with Alex that I can't see her as being ready for yet, and the little fic I do read is typically gen anyway, so while I'll see what's there, I'm not in a hurry. Meanwhile, Vampire Diaries has a lot of Stefan/Elena/Damon variety and choose-your-combination prompts, and while I really get enough of that in the show itself, there are also Caroline prompts and Bonnie/Caroline/Elena prompts (both friendship and shipping) and Katherine/Rose/Anna backstories, so that's probably where I'll head first. Fairy Tales and mythology are also ones I go to fast, and I'll probably check out Dowton Abbey, St. Trinian's, and L. J. Smith categories early, too.
Yup, trolling the post (over a period of days/weeks) as well as watching the pinchhitters list, though those went faster than I checked my email this year.
The Nikita request was actually coming from a pretty reasonable place, from what I recall. It's been a few weeks, but the requester was coming from the fact that Alex's existing knowledge and loyalties were formed by Nikita, and now she's largely cut off from Nikita, and might be at least partially converted by Amanda. For those of us who are largely in it for the mentor/student part and the "women working together to bring down organizations" part, it's not going to appeal, but I can see where the idea came from. (I can actually see the show having her doubt or wonder at some point, but never actually turn on Nikita of her own will.)

I guess I can to, although that will (if it happens) probably be one of my least favorite parts of the series. ...Although I do love Amanda....
Last year, I didn't have much trouble with things running till a bit later in the morning- when all the people on the West Coast would have been hitting the server. I'd opened a lot of different tabs and kept them open, to be able to go back when it wasn't busy and comment on them. AO3 seems to have a much lower comment ratio than other places it seems, but, especially for Yuletide where the fandoms normally don't exist, it always seems really nice to make the effort to comment even if it takes a bit.
I'm a West Coat girl, but I am absolutely positive that I'm going to be near my computer at around midnight my time: I'm curious if that will be a good time to read fic or not.

And ... now I see what you meant about no cuteness!
I was clearly recalling the notifications from the old Yuletide computer, which used to start something like "Jingle-lingle-ling!"
Boo! I wish they'd kept that!

feature Alex being turned against Nikita by Division (no thank you)
AN ENTIRE WORLD OF NO THANK YOU. Sweet jesus, way to want to write against one of the major selling points of that show.
