So, I'm finally current with Castle and while I hated the episode with Laura Prepton, I adored the last two episodes. The magician episode was fantastic on several levels; I adored Castle and Beckett connecting on such a platonic, personality based level and was honestly intrigued by who had been killed and why. I really like Lanie and Esposito together (I like both their character, they're both hot) and I loved trying to figure out who was sleeping with who and that moment of 'oh my god really?' at the reveal.

And then we had "Throwdown" which was fabulous. I loved how hurt and passionate Beckett was about solving her mother's murder.

sidenote: her new apartment was fabulous and if there isn't a fight set there later, during which someone is thrown through those lovely glass doors, it will be a tragedy.

Nathan Fillion did a fantastic job showing that Castle was HAVING FEELINGS without saying every thing going through his head and what he did say (talking about the blood on Kate's sweater, refusing to go home, his ideas for sneaking into the precinct) where all loaded with meaning.

Ryan and Esposito were also amazing. Now, I am not Ryan's biggest fan but he took a level in badass this episode:

"Listen assclown, I was in Catholic school for twelve years; they used to do this for talking in cl–"
Slow clap, bro, slow clap.

Castle and Beckett's kiss was fuuuuunnnnnnn!

Final thought: I'm really loving how Kate's mother's murder is slowly being unspooled. I can't wait for the next episode about her mom's death and dirty cops (which I LOVED).

You know, on any other show I'd be all "SERIOUSLY! ONE EPISODE A SEASON!!!" about the slow unspooling of the murder, but on this show I don't even car, because I ADORE THEM ALL.

*flaps hands in fangirly glee*

Best. Rebound. Ever!

Yeah, in some ways it doesn't seem like it's been that long since the assassin was killed.

I normally can't stand cop dramas for various reasons, but I adore Castle. I realize that it has its issues, but they don't track down a suspect by the serial number on a pen and the characters are awesome enough to wave aside the odd glitch in police procedure so I am happy.

And dude, I adore the way Castle figures out, through trial and error, the right thing to do/say in these situations -- "I will do anything you want me to, including nothing." and not sleeping with the actress and enjoying the kiss but accepting without words that this was not the time to discuss the matter.

For me, crime shows are all about the characters – that's why I'm a fan of Castle and Bones. Criminal Minds, in some ways, is the exception but even that has a strong base with the characters.

"I will do anything you want me to, including nothing."

That was a great line.

*nod* Castle has more of a focus on the characters than others; you'd never see the characters on CSI remembering that, dude, there are families left behind even after you've solved the case, and going out of their way to make them feel better.

And, ee, Becket introducing him as "Someone I trust" -- that's even better than the kiss, really.

Nope. And I'm not enough of a tech geek to CARE about the case getting solved if there isn't a character arc to hold on to.

And tech geeks would inevitably just end up yelling at the screen. Distinct advantage: Castle.

This scene was so awesome I just loved every moment of it. "The police already know about me and your mom." Way to go, Esposito, pulling out the mama jokes with the hired assassins :)

I'm finding the murder of Kate's mom really interesting - I like that they're slowly exploring it and it doesn't get solved in a day (or 12 years). Kate's new apartment was gorgeous though. I keep forgetting she has real boyfriend somewhere, maybe because they can't afford him for anything.

I keep meaning to talk about Castle in "Throwdown" so maybe I'll do that now.

So third grade, yet so badass.

And I'd love to hear your thoughts on Throwdown.
