TV has been so disappointing lately. Seriously, so many shows have either been a half an hour of blah to get to ten minutes of awesome or 20 straight minutes of horrible. Speaking of the latter, I finally watched Community 2x20 and it was terrible. Seriously, there was about one funny thing in that episode and the rest was just offensive and mean. To make matters even worse, my mom did not get ANY of the jokes, so I had to stop and rewind and explain, prolonging the experience. And then the latest Doctor Who episode was like the sucky, less awesome version of Vampires In Venice. Breaking the pattern, the first episode of In Plain Sight's season four was really solid, even if I am still braced for an upcoming plot point that I am going to loathe.

2.20 was the first episode of Community that I've ever been truly disappointed in. I'm usually very forgiving of it's less-than-great episodes. It wasn't even necessarily triggering for me. Just awful and uncomfortable. Thankfully, "Paradigms of Human Memory" returned Community to what it is best at, IMO.

Honestly, one of the reasons I'm no so behind with Community is that I heard bad things about this episode and wanted to wait until I heard good things to start watching again.

I really enjoyed IPS' premiere, too. Although, you keep talking about this plot point and I'm getting super worried!

I'm sorry about that; it's bad internet form. I'll try to shut up about it.

No, no. I didn't mean it like that. I'm just trying to figure out if I should prepare myself or not! lol

Community has been really hit or miss lately, hasn't it? But you should keep watching! Part 1 of the finale was amazing, and part 2 looks to match that level of quality.

It has been. And when it's miss, it's SO AWFUL.

Also, I just watched the episode where they referenced that Jeff/Annie fanvid - what did you think of that episode?

Ah, that episode. The Jeff/Annie homage was equally the best and the worst thing, because while it made me laugh and laugh (and then KEEP LAUGHING when it switched to Pierce/Abed) it also made me go NUTS with dislike because: man, that was the THIRD time this season they laughed it up at the expense of Jeff/Annie fans. (The other two times were: the premiere, which basically made the Pascal's kiss irrelevant and unimportant, and Jeff running in the rain... to Rich.)

Also: I thought the Jeff/Britta secretly been banging reveal was laaaaa-aaaaaaame. Seriously and for real, especially after thinking that FI-NA-LLY those kids were moving on from each other. Britta was hooking up with other dudes! Jeff and Annie SEEMED TO BE heading towards something romantic. AND THEN THAT. Just. Ugh. My main complaint is, and it has nothing to do with relationships, but this show has gotten so sloppy at handling its characterizations. SO DAMN SLOPPY. Especially in the clip episode, where suddenly Jeff is the sentimental character wanting to relive their best group moments? Where Britta looks back on Abed's Christmastime breakdown and hallucinations as being ADORABLE when, what the hell, she got KICKED OUT of his make believe wonderland because she was the most concerned?????!

Yeah! So. My outrage aside, when I remind myself that Community's JUST a sitcom and sitcom's are prone to slack off on characterization in favor of stand-alone episodes, it was great fun. Nearly perfect. But as far as complimenting the characters or their storylines, it was pretty weak. And hilarious fanvid homages aside, Dan Harmon can suck it.

Yep. And then thing that bugged me about this episode most of all (beside Jeff being the one to be like, 'let's bond!') was that it's not like the Jeff/Annie fans are making this stuff up. The writers are explicitly writing it. It's completely unfair to EXPLICITLY AND TEXTUALLY write a pairing and then mock the fans for getting invested in it.

YES, EXACTLY. If you don't want to go there, don't get there, but stop implying we're foolish and naive for seeing something that YOU CREATED IN THE FIRST PLACE, SHOW.

No, that was the episode before the fandom parody episode. Which is an episode that which I'm still not sure of my feelings on.
