So, I saw The Dark Knight Rises.
I thought Anne Hathaway did a fantastic job with Catwoman, and I thought the script did an excellent job of writing her as someone who had her own agenda but also had more of a sense of morality than she was willing to admit even to herself. (I found a lot of similarities in how Selina Kyle and Natasha Romanoff run rings around the men who underestimate them. Especially during that scene in the bar.) Honestly, when this comes out on video, I'll spend a very fond fifteen minutes watching the Selina Kyle show. (And the John Blake show. I don't have anything, really, to say about John Blake, beyond that I enjoyed all the times he was on screen)
As for the rest... oh my god, is this a long movie. First of all, I tend to think that 'everything's great in Gotham, we don't need Batman' is a bad place to start, because I'm going, 'Yeah, crime's down, stay in retirement, Bruce' and I feel like it took forever to get to the point where it's logical for Batman to come back. The middle felt like a re-trend of Batman Begins (and I'm sorry, but bodies Do Not work like that. I couldn't buy Bruce being as damaged as he was in the beginning and managing to recover like he did).
I heard some comparisons between this movie and the Occupy Movement, and I kind of agree with that... both want to tear down important structures of society with no sane replacement and have an incoherent ideology. (Snap!) Which is to say, I spent a lot of this movie going, 'what? why? what?' I also missed half of Bane's dialogue.
I was expecting/hoping for a Boom! Gotham is destroyed and/or Batman dies ending - I feel like this is a trilogy were it makes a lot of narrative sense for it to end with Bruce dead but you know what? I will apparently forgive a FUCKTON of other problems if a film gives me Catwoman/Batman make-outs and Bruce/Selina going off to Europe together. A FUCKTON.
Also, I don't know if it's just me, but I have SO MANY TALIA AL GHUL/BANE FEELS. SO MANY. Ugh. When she was talking about their backstory and he was just looking at her and then there was that single tear? And the intimate-as-all-hell way she touched his mask right over his mouth?
Fandom, I need that fucking explicit as fuck fic where they're training together and when Talia is in her early/midteens she shows up in Bane's room and is like, 'I want to give you my virginity because we're close personal friends and also as a thank you for keeping me safe and not letting me get raped to death,'* and Bane's like, 'Mumble mumble, you're light and I'm a monster from the pit so no,' and Talia's like, 'I don't like that answer' and they have the aforementioned explicit as fuck sex.
*I am aware that this is/can be a super problematic dynamic. I still want to read the everloving fuck out of it.

Just because they're comics and there can be no conclusion or has something happened in the comics to totally prevent it?

So far everyone I know who loves Catwoman has been like, 'hell yes!'

There was one world where Batman retired and Bruce/Selina got married and had a daughter (who became Huntress) but in the book about that it's about their daughter and Selina dies right in the beginning of the book. Right now in the comics the current Huntress is actually this character (Helena Wayne) who's been displaced from her world (Earth Two) and she has talked about Bruce/Selina--squee!--but no word on whether Selina is alive on Earth Two or not so far. It's been a good run so far although the art leaves something to be desired. It's called World's Finest and stars Huntress and Power Girl if you're interested (I've seen on comicunity). Since Bruce/Selina is my OTP it's basically my version of crack. :p Especially the thought of not-her-parents Bruce/Selina finding out about her. /batcatramble

That is exactly it. Especially since Talia/Bane happens right after this long stretch of time where I'm just like, 'man, can this movie hurry up already?'
I have heard tdkr kink meme is full of Talia/Bane, but I have not yet explored it. Kink memes in general tend to make me... guarded. But AO3 definitely has some stuff up already.
I am off to check that out!

And yes, I know the tech in this movie series is quite advanced but oh my God, didn't his leg hurt?
Catwoman made this movie for me. I never thought Anne Hathaway would pull it off, but she is an incredible actress and I will never, ever doubt her abilities again. Also, I loved the way Batman didn't necessarily agree with all of Catwoman's actions but still didn't judge her for the way she lived her life or tried to tell her what to do. He let her make the choice to do the right thing because he believed she wouldn't let him down. I wasn't surprised when they ran off to Europe together because he was the first person to not demonise her.

*nods* I couldn't believe he could recover as well as the movie said he did.

This is the first live-action ANYTHING that I've seen that justice by Catwoman.
