I Think It's A Bad Sign...

When you go into the bathroom to put chlorhexidine on your ears, look in the mirror, wince while thinking "oh my god look at those bags under my eyes." Mentally stop yourself, go, "no, wait, you just smeared your mascara," wipe below your eyes with a wet towel, and nothing changes.

Seriously, I look like a got punched twice in the face.

On the plus side, first final down, three more to go.

And I watched Avatar 3x12 last night. More thoughts later.

Cucumber slices (or mushed up cukes, just don't get the juice IN your eyes) or cool wet teabags can help a bit with the dark circles; or Vitamin K creams if they're really bad...

And oh geeze, finally broke down and watched it since the spoilers are flying so thick and fast and I didn't want to wait for February...AIEEEE! Once the screencaps are up (if they're not up already, I haven't started looking yet), I may FINALLY have found the perfect scenes to use for my old S2 idea to make a "PRINCE OF DORKNESS" icon... ;)

Since that would involve buying cucumber, I have the feeling I'm going to go with that old stand-by: concelear.

Oh. My. God. Best Zuko sililoque EVER. I need to type it all up so I can reread it when ever I need a pick me up.

(And if you want, I can do a couple screencaps.)

So... does this mean that episode was aired overseas? And we don't get any more until February? *bites nails*

Yeah, I can sympathize. I've got nasty circles, myself. Can't really reccomend anything, though. I've had little success with my attempts.

For me, what works best is concealer and, you know, sleep.

[identity profile] fairest1.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I keep trying to make 'em go away without having to use makeup. I've never really been the type to wear makeup. Just an odd quirk, I suppose.

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 01:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm pretty much always wearing a little make up, it's just realizing that, you know, right now I need a little more help than just lipgloss.

[identity profile] fairest1.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, I see. Much luck with that.

Jim has bad problems with bags. It's better than it used to be - when he was finishing up school, they were AWFUL!! He actually had to buy Mac concealer for his Senior Recital to cover up the bags because, under stage lights, you've never seen bags like THAT.

Rest and the end of this stress will help things greatly. It's likely incredibly exaggerated by being sick (I know I'll get them when I'm sick.)

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I had bags when I was super jet-lagged coming over. A couple nights of good sleep and I'll be fine.

Heh. Poor Jim. Still, the boy got an excuse to play with makeup at least. I hope he took advantage of that opportunity.

[identity profile] pzb.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
*snort* He's not exactly the make-up wearing type. XD (and thank god for that. XD) But the concealer he got did a great job. It's what happens when you pay buco bucks for it.

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Well, at least the make up was worth the money - it would have sucked if it hadn't been worth it and expensive to boot.

[identity profile] pzb.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it was Mac, which I've used in the past and it's a really high quality, damn near theater makeup, so I figured it would be worth the money (too bad when we moved up here, it fell out of one of the boxes and the lid broke....it's still good, so far as I know, but you really shouldn't use eye makeup past a year....so he spent all that money for one really usage. And damn, how rambling was that thought?? XD)

Well, for what it's worth, they SAY you should throw the stuff out after a year -- but Little Miss Perkygoth Makeupwhore here has some eye products waaaay older than a year that I'm still using happily, despite having very sensitive eyes. The rule of thumb I use it that I'll throw something out if the texture changes, the smell changes, or the instant I notice any sort of itching or skin irritation, no matter how mild -- so some things get ditched way ahead of schedule, and some things manage to linger on for a good long time.

(All that said, yeah, wet products like concealer or foundation or liquid liner or mascara *do* go "off" faster than waxy stuff like lipstick or stick concealers, which go off faster than dry powdery products -- and if you're really meticulous about cleaning your tools regularly, that probably helps to extend their shelf life. But considering that tube of concealer has probably only been exposed to air and skin ONCE, if the lid is still reasonably sealed despite the crack -- it would not surprise me if it was still good. Sniff it, test a bit on your hand to make sure it hasn't gone all goopy and doesn't make your skin cranky, if it passes all those tests try it on the actual eyes some day when you're not heading out, so you can wash it off if it starts to bother you a while after application...and if it's still OK after a few hours, I'd say it's probably still got some life in it yet. *grin*)

And hrm, speaking of MAC, have you ever tried their Mattene (http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2955730/0~2377897~2383939~2378438~6011765?mediumthumbnail=Y&origin=category&searchtype=&pbo=6011765&P=1) lipstick? I haven't played with MAC all that much since generally if I'm going for something pricey and dramatic my standbys are Nars, Shiseido, or Make Up For Ever (which actually started as a French theatrical line and has some insanely great, wild stuff.) But Red probably remembers me bitching about Shiseido discontinuing what was my absolute PERFECT red lipstick, and "slimline, velvety, semi-matte" sounds JUST like what I'm trying to replace -- and if color swatches on a monitor can be trusted, their "Classic Dame" might even be close to the right 1940s blue-red...

(Of course, with my luck, if it IS a good replacement for the Shiseido they'll just discontinue the line or the color or both...grrrr.)
