I know there is no way that I could offer holiday fics for people this year (on the plus side, though, my nano novel is on track which is a thing of amazement and joy) but I really love this variant from torigates:

SO. Request a day and a topic and I will talk about anything you want. Likely at length! Obviously topics I actually know about are preferable, but pretty much anything you want is fair game, and I will wax poetic about why it is great. It'll be fun! (Protip: my tags and my icons are always great ways to get ideas for fandoms that I'm familiar with.)

I was going to let you run with it :) But if you'd like more structure, perhaps your take on the different presentations of strong women in media? I.e. second wave feminism versus third wave feminism of Strong Girl vs strong women. Does that help?

Can I just add a hell yeah to Johanna Mason being on your list? because HELL YEAH.

(Someday I still want to read a crack fic where Johanna Mason, Leah Clearwater, Faith Lehane and assorted other awesome secondary heroines have a commiseration party about how they should be the ones to take over the world. Johanna, drunk, screaming I SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE MOCKINGJAY, Faith bitching about Buffy, Leah wanting to be leader of the pack. hee.)

I think Johanna is smart enough NOT to want to be the Mockingjay - I think it would be more 'WHY THE FUCK DOES KATNISS GET A LIVING MENTOR AND *TWO* BOY-TOYS WHILE EVERYONE *I* LOVE IS DEAD, WHAT THE FUCK?"

Maybe, but if I remember right (and maybe I'm not because I only read it theonce and never will again) Johanna actually says in the book that she should've been/would've made a better Mockingjay. I think she thought katniss was just a waste because she didn't own the rebellion, didn't take down Snow (like she promised Johanna), etc. I could just see Johanna being all "Man, I would've SET THAT SHIT ON FIRE!!"

ETA: and I should say I think she's pretty fucked up and has a bit of a death wish. So I could see her wanting to do it to be all blaze of glory about it and go out with a bang? Especially after Finnick died.

I'm going to wait until I see her performance, and to be fair I haven't seen her in anything before. So we'll see. People weren't optimistic about Gale, but I enjoyed it.

Yeah. In general the first movie was pleasant but didn't move me half as much as the (early) books did, so I'm ready for whatever they want to do pretty much.
