Day 9: The ship you want to see being a trainwreck tragedy because they're too alike.
Katniss/Haymitch, The Hunger Games
One of my favorite dynamics in Catching Fire is the way that Haymitch both loves Katniss and treats her harshly because she's so much his mirror. Haymitch lies to Katniss a decent amount, imho, but I think he cares about her in his fucked-up, dysfunctional way and he does, several times, pick Katniss' survival over Peeta, despite agreeing with Katniss to do his best to keep Peeta alive. For her part, Katniss also has as much affection for Haymitch as she is capable of; and I think one of the most refreshing things about Haymitch, for her, is that she doesn't need to explain her thought-processes and emotions - he gets her on an instinctive level that no one else in the books does.
Day 10: The ship you want to see being a trainwreck tragedy because they're too different.
Sif/Loki, Thor
The way I see this pairing, is of two equals with vastly different perspectives on the same situation. Looking at Thor, I think both of Sif and Loki saw that he was unready to be a king; Sif, however, prizes loyalty, and so would not even think of standing in Thor's way and Loki... well, we all watch Thor and The Avengers.
Day 11: The ship you love for its creepiness.
Hauptsturmführer von Linden/Verity
Look, I am not saying I want these two to make out or anything like that. But one of the reasons that I love Code Name Verity is that I could tell that von Linden had a thing for her. I think he respected her as another player in the game of espionage, I think he respected her as a writer and student of literature, and I think he, deep down, had feelings of affection that he wasn't about to admit to himself regarding Verity.
And god, that scene where he sings opera to Verity? And she breaks down because it's atrocious to consider that this man who is torturing her and her fellows is capable of something that beautiful?
Day 12: The ship you love for the power difference.
Alucard/Integra, Hellsing.
I feel like this is the holy grail of power games in shipping. The way that Alucard both loves having Integra's hand on his leash and also wants to drag Integra down to his level.... Damn. I always had the feeling Alucard was grooming Integra for vampirism, and that eventually he was going to turn her. And I think that the main reason that Integra stayed a virgin her entire life was to leave that possibility open.
