asadladljkdflj I'm so glad that you're going to be back soon. I know you'll be terribly busy with Christmas and relaxing with bubble baths and eating "bad" peanut butter and chips but let me know what your plans are! I'd love to get together with you sometime before school starts back up.

I know! I'm beyond thrilled! Since I only have a week and a half until I come go up the Bellingham, I don't think I'm going to be doing much out-of-PT - plus, I have a Seattle area friend who's already coming over and staying the night, and I want to save the cosplay for the think to spring on my mother. (Which is not to say I don't want to see you, because IdoIdoIdo, just that it probably won't be until we're back at Western.)

Okay, first, there has been a change in the me-leaving-PT possibility, involving already being in Seattle and having an extra ticket for the Nutcracker. I'll be giving you a call today, and an un-obscene hour, but I wanted to cover my bases. So are you free this coming Saturday?

Well, since Zuko and Katara are eating my brains right now, it might take a little bit of force to get me writing...

You know what's really funny? For the "cross-over" prompt for 100roadtrips I have always planned to do a Sabriel/Saiyuki crossover. Great mind.

As for what Sabriel thinks of Hazel... he's scum. He's bottem feeding, necromancer scum - even worse than the usual sort, because they just bring the dead back to live - but to kill people (and I think Sabriel has enough experience with not quite human creatures to qualify youkai as solidly human) in order to do so? ...she has no words. However, won't stop her from dragging his ass to the 9th Gate and drop kicking him through.

She might even find a way to do so that will leave Gat 'alive.'

I have no idea who the non-Saiyuki character here is, but anyone who could conceivably free Gat from that bitch Hazel and potentially leave him alive...undead...whatever...in the process sounds like a spiffy person in my book! :)

I'd have you hurry up and write FMN, for all the reasons you've already heard -- the little teasers of plot you've already given have me champing at the bit, and I'm always eager for good, longer Saiyuki fic (and Gojyo-centric too, be still my heart!)

Failing that, well, the feral!Lupin/Tonks love scene we were talking about earlier would be very, very tasty. Or if I'm going to be greedy, I'd say do a rewrite of their stuff from Book 7 so they get to be awesome, back in character, and NOT DEAD by the end. ;)

*giggles* Well, here's another one to kick around in the back of your head (because I really, really want to read it and I think you could do it justice); AU het 585, where GOJYO is the girl but otherwise all the same personality traits. Because I've seen het AUs where Hakkai is female, or Kanan survives the castle instead of him, or Gojyo ends up saving Kanan's halfbreed child...but girl!Gojyo that ISN'T a magical genderswap where his self-identity is still very, very male are much rarer. And I think that would be really interesting for all the reasons that came up in that meta of doom, Hakkai's personality traits map on to conventionally-acceptable female behavior pretty neatly but a girl-Gojyo who's got all those same bad habits would come in for even more disapproval than the kappa already faces as a guy. That would be a really interesting tweak on the relationship that I adore in pretty much any permutation, and given your love for Starbuck I think you could definitely do a rowdy female Gojyo justice and then write some lovely tender scorching smut when they finally hook up... ;)

Okay, first, randomly. You reminded me that I actually wrote AU Kanan/Gojyo. I need to post that.

And I have always been wary of writing AU-het Gojyo x Hakkai, because it always seems like cheating to hate Gojyo x Hakkai but be fine with it if Gojyo's a girl.

HOWEVER, if it's a request... I'm in the moral free and clear, aren't I? (Plus i would restore the universe into balance after i wrote slash for the kink meme.)

And you're totally right - Gojyo as a girl hits all my kick ass nontraditionally feminine Starbuck kinks like a mad, mad thing. (It's on reason I love Max/Logan, from Dark Angel, and used to love Starbuck/Apollo, before they killed that ship).

I'm sure you'll be please to know that this morning I dragged out my burial arc manga (oh, pretty manga, with pretty pretty pictures... I think I'd forgotten how sexy Minukura drew) and was rereading with an eye towards doing an alternate version.

And yes, if flattery is all that it takes, you should have told me that ages ago! Just let me go get a shovel... ;)

It hardly seems like cheating to me, if it's a case where you like the idea of bouncing those personality types against each other but can't see it working with the canon characters because you read them as purely straight, then forcing yourself to write them slashed would be about as AU-ish from your POV as doing a genderswap. And it's just such a *fun* sort of AU, even aside from shippiness, I just love the idea of a girl version of Gojyo, there seems to be so much potential for interesting things to play with there; the unapologetic sluttiness in particular would get her even more disapproval than it does with him as a guy, the facial scarring would tend to read even more strongly as disfiguring rather than rakish, and there's room for so much extra stepmom-angst if being female makes Gojyo an even stronger reminder of her human birth mother... (And can you imagine Gojyo with PMS? *snicker*) And adding in the shippiness, well, that also seems like it raises the potential for tweaking the angst in different ways than if it were slash -- since girl!Gojyo would be about as different from Kanan as possible in just about every way except simple physical gender.

I would not complain, either way...I so wasn't kidding when I said I like any permutation on that pairing. I suspect I've had this on my mind a lot because I've been trying to find something that pushes the same buttons as Perversion but in a slightly girlier way to be a new everyday fragrance, and since that one is my Gojyo scent I've inevitably been thinking of the candidates in the same personified terms. (Right now it's looking like the two main candidates are Bandit (http://nowsmellthis.blogharbor.com/blog/_archives/2006/9/26/2362609.html) and Habanita (http://nowsmellthis.blogharbor.com/blog/_archives/2007/4/5/2859026.html). That second review in particular made me rush out and hunt down a sample -- "If you can imagine dousing yourself in baby powder, donning an old leather jacket and then smoking a cigar in a closed room with a single rose in a vase 10 feet away, you'll get the general idea" sure sounds a bit Starbuck, eh?
