....Because I never say 'no' to shirtless Zuko.

So, I have a new fandom, which means, new fic should be written and I just am realizing that the last two (only two, only one of which has been posted) have involved Zuko angsting. Which was fun and all, but Avatar is a big, big sandbox, and I'd like to play around in places besides Zuko's head (other parts of Zuko are up for grabs).

(Sort-of gacked from [profile] hireadd.)

You! Pick 2 (two) characters from Avatar, 1 (one) place, and 1 (one) object, and lo, THERE WILL BE FIC. It may be fic that is only a sentence long, but it will be fic.

I suck at these things and at being creative in general, but what the hell:

- Azula
- Sokka
- Somewhere in the Fire Nation (should I be more specific? The only place I can think of is the Fire Palace)
- a rock!

... good luck?

Thank you!

Zuko, Iroh, Western Air Temple, good tea.

This might end up being folded in with another prompt - I got two requesting the Western Air Temple, and the characters and items are remarkably compatible.

That's fine. Can't wait to read!

Suki, Azula, Lake Laogai, and a tiny pot of safflower lip rouge (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250159890498&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:Watchlink:middle:us).

I am ready to weep when I realized that that has already been sold. Did you see it? With the painted shell? Oh my god, I think I'm in love.

Check the seller's eBay store -- they have more in stock! These are the folks I was mentioning before that sell all sorts of traditional geisha cosmetics and accessories that will break your heart, and possibly your wallet. ;)

And have you used this? How does it compare to modern lipstick? Is it harder to apply? Feel different?
Friday, December 28th, 2007 12:46 pm (UTC)
I've never tried it, but I'm very very tempted to get one of those little shells myself! I'm guessing just from the instructions they give for application that it's probably no harder to work with than regular stuff on a lipbrush, and since it's water-soluble and buildable coverage I'm expect the texture when it dries is pretty light -- more of a lipstain than a waxy color. But that's just guessing, I could be totally wrong here!

(And oh geeze, have you seen the rest of their stuff? Wooden styling combs soaked in fragrant camellia oil with pretty chirimen cases! Eyeliner pens shaped a bit like calligraphy brushes, in elegant little tubes decorated with cherry blossoms! Oh, the makeuplust, it BURNS...and let us not even mention the costly, exquisite hair ornaments. *weeps*)

I haven't gotten to the hair ornaments yet - I got sidetracked with that complete Kubuki make up set. Did you see the youtube link with that one girl putting it all on? And it ten minutes flat, too. It was impressive and gorgeous.
Friday, December 28th, 2007 07:25 pm (UTC)
Lemme put it this way -- some of the hair ornaments cost more for just ONE exquisite little floral piece than that whole whopping 14-piece complete makeup set. *whimpers and clings* The complete shiro-nuri set, well, it's a lot of money, but it's also a LOT of stuff including gorgeous cosmetic brushes...

*whimpers*

One of the clerks at Parfumerie Douglas the other day asked me if I was a professional makeup artist...man, I wish, then maybe I could justify getting stuff like that because it could be written off as a business expense!

*jaw drops*

I could never buy it. I don't think I could ever bring myself to use a hair ornament that cost that much.

ZOMG ZOMG SQUEE! The MAC order is here and oh joy, it is about as close of a clone to my precious discontinued Shiseido as I could hope for! Tube's the same diameter, maybe a half-inch taller, sort of rubberized black matte finish and very stark lines instead of the metallic-black curves of the Shiseido; just as slim and elegant on the outside, really, just in a more industrial way rather than organic. In the tube the color looks damn near IDENTICAL. On the lips, I would say the MAC is just a teensy hair lighter and creamier in texture and just a teensy shade more satiny in finish than the Shiseido, and the Shiseido is perhaps just the slightest bit more bluey of a blue-red...but that's really splitting hairs: I have them both on right now and if I didn't tell you that I was wearing two different lipsticks, you'd never notice the difference (and even if I told you, I think only someone with an artist's or serious makeup-whore's eyes could see the variation in tone and texture, it's THAT close.) I'll need to wear it around for a day to get a feel for how long-wearing it is in comparison -- I think it may rub off a little easier since the Shiseido was part of a specialized ultra-long-wear line and the MAC isn't selling itself on that basis, but at this point I So Do Not Care; perfect slimline 40's blood-red, I don't mind doing touch-ups! So of course the stupid thing's a limited edition -- I'm seriously thinking of getting a spare tube and storing it in the fridge for when this one runs out. If your favorite red is running short, run do not walk to your local MAC counter or hit their website and snap this baby up.

After Jet lost conciousness, he didn't expect to wake up. He certainly didn't expect to wake up to a pretty girl with full lips and cold eyes, smirking at him over a cup of tea.

Katara Zuko post war, rain and the phrase, "Rain rain go away come here some other day"

It's on the list!
