So I came across this on tumblr:

Screen Shot 2013-06-01 at 9.33.01 PM

Which got me thinking about characters who read as ‘not-straight.’ Basically, I’m going to take this as a chance to mention about some badass queer ladies (canonically or noncanically) and bug me in the comments about your favorites ‘no way is he/she straight’ characters in the comments. Remember to show your work.

So let me mention:

I would be a look more interested in Neal if he wasn’t at the root of some of the most frustrating Rumpel plotlines, if he didn’t get a free pass for what he didn’t to Emma, if if if. Basically, they screwed the pooch with his character.

And I feel like everyone knows that Ivy and Harley are lady-loves. Like, for serious.

Those Huntress comics sound intriguing!

then after she knocks out the pimp the woman freaks and Helena has to knock her out but then she lays her carefully on the bed...

THAT SOUNDS TOTALLY PLATONIC TO ME, YEP, YEP.

Totally agree about Neal. Baelfire is really interesting and I love the actor playing him but Neal is just... Yawn. It still amuses me how poorly they do with their male characters on this show, except for Rumpel and David--though in Rumpel's case I feel like a big part of that is Robert C. Speaking of David I really want to see some more father/daughter bonding since all the Snow/Emma bonding moments were the highlights of the season for me and that + the one Red-centric episode and Regina were the only things that kept me watching once the idiot villains showed up and the Blue Fairy turned August into a child (an attempt to sink the hope of people sailing the SS SwanAsshole (wait you mean that isn't the ship name for August/Emma?!)?).

Speaking of Swan Queen have you read Averno (http://archiveofourown.org/works/572928/chapters/1026825)? It's the first part in an (unfortunately) incomplete series. The first part starts after Emma/Snow get portaled to FTL and Regina is researching magic to try to figure out how to bring them back when she starts having dreams every night that she's in Granny's diner with Emma. Eventually she starts talking to Emma and it gets to where they both tell each other more and more personal stuff. Which is okay since it's not real, right? Ha. Anyway it has a really great Regina POV and I found everyone to be IC. Warning for graphic violence in the last chapter.

Some artists/writers have definitely admitted to seeing Harley/Ivy as a couple. Including Harley's creator. :p I love that different writers/artists have their own head canon. Like Gail Simone says she writes Black Canary as bisexual (I do prefer Oracle/Black Canary to Oracle/Dick although I don't necessarily ship them).

Those Huntress comics sound intriguing!

If you do happen to read any I'd love to know whether or not you are getting the same vibes!

No I have not read that and thank you so fucking much for reccing it. God, that was just exquisite! (And I’m so sorry that there isn’t more.) That seriously just ripped my heart out and jumped on it. I loved that the writer didn’t forget about Emma’s past of abuse and how that made it so difficult for her to deal with Regina, who is both a victim and an abuser herself.

Yay I'm glad you liked it! The author showing Emma dealing with her mixed feelings on Regina based on her past experiences with abuse is definitely my favourite element. Not enough people do this in fics--although it is of course hard to get right.

Yep. Plus, unlike a lot of issues or problems in fanfic, there REALLY isn't a way to resolve it, you know? Regina did do these evil things.
