Do you know the one moment that completely threw me out of the movie? Well, there were three, but the one I want to talk about iswhen Clark gets a job at the Daily Planet, which is busy and bustling and prosperous. Like, the idea of ANYONE getting a full time job as a journalist right now just strains belief in a way that aliens, alternate timelines, and black holes in the middle of a major city just don't.

Which is to say, I fucking love the idea of Lois debating a career in bank robbery and Clark as a camera man, even if, generally speaking, the hate Man of Steel has been getting is only making me retroactively like the film more, for all that there are glaring problems.

Sidenote: does anyone have any recommendations for Man of Steel icons?

Additional sidenote: If you haven't seen Michael Shannon (aka General Zod) doing a dramatic reading of a sorority leader's trash-talking e-mail, you might want to check that out.

Yeah, I was able to roll with it because it's just so classic, but I was like, ha ha, oh, the days when that was possible.

Late comment is late, but I'm thinking of seeing this movie for my birthday and I was wondering if you might be able to fill me in on the problems it has? Is it anything major or just minor niggles...?

If it’s still relevant, here is my longer review of Man of Steel. (http://redbrunja.livejournal.com/910591.html)This is a movie I would recommend to people, but it does have a couple of large structural problems.

This one is the best Superman movie. Looks like superhero movies are competing to make great movies by changing the characters, the costumes, storyline, and sentimentality of the superhero movies.
