Exactly. And it makes no logical sense to me that a media could be ok'd but the main character no. ESPECIALLY with Hawkeye, where it is very much centered around Clint. I don't know how ensembe-y Red Robin is, or how easy it would be to write a fic without Dick or Tim, but it's very weird for me to think about writing a Hawkeye fic with no Clint. (I offered, so I may end up writing Kate + Pizza Dog road trip or Kate/Madam Masque.)
Well, they said they'd be lenient about who is considered the "main" character, and since Kate is also Hawkeye that's probably how it happened.
I think the reason they did it like that is because otherwise you could, say, nominate Batman and Robin (128 fics) trying to get Dick + Damian fic, which is not rare. People are just more likely to tag it "Batman (Comics)."
I think you can write a pretty great Hawkeye story without Clint since she is you know, also Hawkeye, and the comic has worked on giving her almost equal story time as Clint.
Oh, totally. But still, if I'd know that Clint was going to be knocked out, I'd have argued with the mods about that and said the rules were knocking out the spirit of the thing. But other people might have already, so I don't know that it would have made any difference.
