The writers of SHIELD need to fucking learn how to name drop. And tumblr, stop fucking acting like the name drops are anything but sledge-hammer-like, nonsensical, and canon-incompliant.
I stopped watching AoS because it was about as interesting to me as cottage cheese, but I did see gifs of that Bucky name drop floating around and it seems really ham-fisted and pointless. Why would Bucky's name be up there when he was never affiliated with SHIELD in any version of canon? Why would he be listed by his nick name? Why would Skye know or care who he is?
It seemed like Marvel did it just to say "hey, you know Cap's best friend who died in the first movie? The one the average viewer has probably forgotten about? Well he's Really Important and Totally Dead, nudge nudge."
Clumsy, manipulative and poorly done, and especially because the writers know the fans will go nuts for it no matter how lazy it is. Bad SHIELD writers, no biscuit.
