I have really, really been enjoying some of the conversations about the MCU (and why it's pwning DC's ass in every way):
I saw Winter Soldier again tonight with my mom (my first review is here) and loved it, if anything, possibly more the second time.

- qualapec wondering if Loki fangirls will jump on the Bucky Barnes train. my thought is the Loki fangirls are either already on board the Bucky Barnes train and what we will see in fandom is an explosion of Steve/Bucky. The only question regarding Winter Soldier is how much hate Natasha and Sharon will get, and which one fandom is going to hate more. (Spoiler alert, it's going to be Sharon. Natasha will be relegated to being SO AWESOME but her relationship with Steve and/or Bucky is STRICTLY PLATONIC. Which is for the best, because Natasha is just TOO AWESOME TO BE DATING ~CAPTAINS AMERICA~ *eyeroll*)
- my deep and heartfelt lament that Steve/Bucky fanfic is almost invariably well-written and is the most tropperiffic fanfic to have ever been written in the history of fandom. In other news, there is no god.

thatfangirl asked if I'd done a wishlist for Cap 2. I have, it's basically one item:DON’T FUCK UP NATASHA.
That’s my biggest fear. I want her to be the stealth main character like she was in Avengers. I want Natasha to have several amazing fight scenes. I want her to have an explicitly romantic relationship with Bucky when he was training her, and I want the movie to end on an ambiguous note re: their romantic relationship going forward. Major bonus points if they have a hand-to-hand fight while he’s still brainwashed and she beats him.
Other things I'd like are:
-I don’t want to see Peggy Carter – I would have loved it if she’d died pre-Avengers.
-Maria and Natasha have a conversation.
-The ending stinger is not some oblique, boring thing that only hardcore comics nerds will get, but an actually funny, relevant tag to the movie.
-Lots of Steve in civilian clothes.
-Bucky ends up getting a decent haircut at the end so we can enjoy Sebastian Stan’s beauty.
-For the movie to be as awesome as the trailers are making it look.

.- I have once again continued my horrible habit of doing real-life financial book-keeping late at night on Sundays. I should know better but I clearly don't.
- I had an impromptu coffee date with qualapec this afternoon, which was a blast, and resulted in:
- I erased my amazon wishlist. It had been how I'd been keeping track of books, and I had books on there that I hadn't read in the TEN YEARS they had been on my wishlist, so. Two clicks, and it was gone. I saved the most recent books, but other than that, it's all deleted. I also culled a few of my physical to-read books.
- qualapec and I realized that if Steve's plan goes down in 1944, depending on which month you place that, you have AT LEAST four months to a year and change in which PEGGY CARTER COULD BE LEADING THE HOWLING COMMANDOS AROUND THE EUROPEAN THEATER. God, I cannot express how much I want that. Like, I can just see Peggy coming out of that radio tower (she probably fixed her mascara before hand) so she looks both devastated and perfect and the Commandos (who have, iirc, lost their two highest ranking soldiers) are like, "what now, ma'am?" and Agent Peggy Carter says, "Now we go win the war, gentlemen."

- I read the second volume of morning glories and you should all start reading it too. kidiots has a great rec post here, although to be honest, I am kind of temped to just tell you all to just trust my taste and read without any prior info.

I was scrolling through my LJ recently in an attempt to get a feeling for what the fannish landscape of 2013 has been thus far, and one thing I noticed is that I have done the (admittedly, super-awesome) Tennis Match Meme about a BILLION times in the last six months.
So my personal challenge for the next four weeks is to post (and play) with some of the many, many, many other memes that exist on the internet.
Starting with....

Jones, Indiana. He’s just the epitome of cool, okay? Go watch Raiders of The Lost Ark if you don’t believe me.
John Diggle. I don’t have much to say about Diggle.. Narratively, I like that he found out Oliver’s secret pretty quickly, because Oliver needs as many people as he can get telling him when he’s being an hot-headed lunatic (always). I found his relationship with Carly really adobs until their actual first date, which made me think that Carly was ready to move on but Diggle wasn’t. I like that Diggle’s reaction to Felicity joining the team was ‘self-defense training time, yay!’.
Those are all my thoughts.
John Conner exists so that we can focus on his mother and his killer robot girlfriend and their quest to save the world from Skynet.
Jaye Tyler. HEROINE OF MY GENERATION.
I loved Wonderfalls when it was first airing, but I didn’t love Jaye the way I do now. Because when Wonderfalls was first airing, I was an optimistic 15 years old. Now, I’m ALMOST 26 MY GOD SO OLD, having earned a BA and embarked into a workforce filled with twenty/thirty somethings who are all over educated and unemployable. Basically, I just get Jaye so much more now and she seems like such a prescient character. (Saint Jaye is right.)
It’s hard for me to verbalize all my Jaye Tyler feelings. Maybe when my rewatch is finished I’ll have more to say.
(FYI, J is a really hard letter to do this meme on, and I spent about a billion years thinking of all the fannish Jacks and Johns and Jeremys that I didn’t want to waste words on.)
James “Bucky” Buchanan Barnes. I am really looking forward to watching Natasha and Steve rescue this dude like the BAMFs they are, come 4.14.14.
