From what I gather around the f-list (outside of the "actor/character is hot" based reactions) Hellboy 2 is the best of the lot.

When putting all in the super-hero genre, I'd say yes. But Hellboy 2 felt much more...fairy/folk-tale than super-hero.

Actually, I was mostly thinking "comic book based movies."

That makes sense. In that case, definitely yes.

Really? Now I'm even more excited to see it.

I disagree, but I'd say that they're both sufficiently awesome that arguing which one is better would be entirely pointless.

Pepper Pots needs no super-powers, she IS a super-power.

Which is to say, word.

Agreed.

Yes.

Provided that they don't completely fuck up in the next movie (*glares at Hollywood*), Pepper will continue to be awesome. She won't get killed or kidnapped or held hostage. If she does get captured at some point, by the time Tony gets there, all he'll need to do is carry the baddies to where the cops are waiting. And she will never end up in a refrigerator, unless she's forced to pull an Indiana Jones and seek shelter from a nuclear blast.

From your mouth to god's ears.

And on top of that, Pepper doesn't have an 'excuse' -- with other strong female leads, it seems all too common that they'll be the 'chosen one' or somehow entirely unique in their abilities. (Not referring to any X-Men characters, since there's tons of mutants of either gender) But making them too unique starts to feel like they're saying "Well, a normal woman would have no chance of kicking butt, but she's cool . . ."

Pepper? She's normal, but she's got enough business savvy to pretty much run Stark Industries while Tony's off in his suit, she can calmly remove herself from a dangerous situation, sees no problem in calling for backup, doesn't scream more than necessary (shorthand for "Hey, guys, I found Stane and it turns out he built a giant robot suit and has been hiding over here so we should probably run" is perfectly reasonable), was the one directly responsible for finishing off the bad guy, and can do it all in high heels.

I have nothing else to say except word.

I...did not watch IronMan. *shrug* Some things just don't interest me, no matter how good they are.

That said, I watched Batman but was unable to really enjoy it because Heath Ledger's Joker scared the crap out of me and the whole social commentary thing (for someone like me who didn't watch the first Batman movie) was quite unexpected. Those kind of things always make me uncomfortable.

Batman was a very good movie though - I would be crazy not to say that. Unfortunately I just can't compare the two. Hellboy II...*yawn* I don't think I've ever been that uninterested in a movie (then again I didn't see the first Hellboy either and I've never been interested in the franchise - I went because I had to accompany my cousin).

Well, Iron Man didn't give up all honest humor in order to be edgy and dark and oscar worthy.
