Yes.

Provided that they don't completely fuck up in the next movie (*glares at Hollywood*), Pepper will continue to be awesome. She won't get killed or kidnapped or held hostage. If she does get captured at some point, by the time Tony gets there, all he'll need to do is carry the baddies to where the cops are waiting. And she will never end up in a refrigerator, unless she's forced to pull an Indiana Jones and seek shelter from a nuclear blast.

And on top of that, Pepper doesn't have an 'excuse' -- with other strong female leads, it seems all too common that they'll be the 'chosen one' or somehow entirely unique in their abilities. (Not referring to any X-Men characters, since there's tons of mutants of either gender) But making them too unique starts to feel like they're saying "Well, a normal woman would have no chance of kicking butt, but she's cool . . ."

Pepper? She's normal, but she's got enough business savvy to pretty much run Stark Industries while Tony's off in his suit, she can calmly remove herself from a dangerous situation, sees no problem in calling for backup, doesn't scream more than necessary (shorthand for "Hey, guys, I found Stane and it turns out he built a giant robot suit and has been hiding over here so we should probably run" is perfectly reasonable), was the one directly responsible for finishing off the bad guy, and can do it all in high heels.
