How easy writing smut is.

I mean, you have Kakashi, who is older (can't imagine he's not a virgin - like, my mind gets a 404 error when I try to envision that) and reads porn all the time.

And then you have Sakura, who is a practicing medic in a ninja village ("so... you got the sebon..... there.... by doing what?"), so she knows the ins and out of the human body very, very well. Plus in my head she reads racy yaoi manga she steals from Ino. And as a bonus, Sakura has that nice, vocal id running around her head.

It's SO NICE not to worry about people being polite during ...lovemaking (Hakkai x Yaone) or having to friggin DANCE to give the characters SOME CLUE as to what's going on (Katara x Zuko.)

With Kakashi x Sakura, it's straight to the racy, raunchy bits.

*knocks on wood, so as not to offend the smut gods*

On the subject, I find it very, very interesting that while the Hakkai that lives in my head... loves umeboshi, the Kakashi in my head is very, very.... good with his hands.

I bought the first volume of the manga, and then I think I sold it to someone else because I didn't care for it. ::shrug::

And you're probably white-washing it to preserve the image of you as young and innocent.

2003? I was... 19. Hm. A very interesting age.

you do good crazy spike dialogue.

I loved crazy Spike...except for how my heart kept breaking for him I always felt awkward writing him in the first place because of the whole British thing (ha! I had not yet discovered Doctor Who), but I felt with Crazy Spike I could just throw in all sorts of random shit, toss in some Victorian sexual guilt, add a few "Englishy" words and stir! It seems to work well. Plus with crazy characters you can layer in as much symbolism and multi-layered threads as you want, and it doesn't have to make sense within the context of the conversation. I love that freedom.

"I'm sure he just closes his eyes and thinks of Konoha."

 Icon it! I'd use that icon, absolutely.

Oh, the first volume sucks. The art and story don't get good until you find out Hakkai's backstory, and then it doesn't get really, really addicting until about... the sixth volume, when Gojyo's first arc kicks in, and it's amazing.

Which is not to say that you must must must read it, because if it's not clicking, there is no need to try and force it.

And if I had any skill at iconning at all, I would.
