Today:

[livejournal.com profile] enderxenocide  and I got nostalgic at dinner about fanon!Draco. (You know, the traitor/spy/morally ambigious/auror/shades of gray one.) It turns out we were reading the same fics, only she was reading the Draco/Harry ones, and I was all about the Ginny/Draco. (For a time, I liked Hermione/Draco, and then read some excellent Snape/Hermione, and holy fuck, it's no surprise I took to Kakashi/Sakura like a fish to water.)

–went to anime club, and watched the end of the XXXholic movie. The animation was strange. Yuko is badass. I find the boy amusing and already know I would be shipping Yuko and this universe's version of Mori (from Ouran).

–XXXHolic and Claymore are in the same to-read browser window.

[livejournal.com profile] fani  linked to this in a 'truth is stranger than fiction way' and... I wanna write it. Don't you think it would be a fabulous novel? Like, you could write a series of interconnected short stories, from different perspective - cheating husband, bitter wife, a slice of life from one of the girls who use their bodies to entrap these men yet has a boyfriend who thinks you're a secretary.... *plotbunnies* Wouldn't that be a fantastically interesting? If I didn't think I'd fail at Japanese culture/mores/voice, I so would.

–Does anyone have good icons of girls with laptops? Or typewriters?

#169 does seem like the perfect man. I have no idea where he's from, though. Also, Kerowyn secret for the win!

–Total word on #162. Ruby's new body is hotter than hell (I used to kinda watch Wildfire at the gym, on hot girl + horses merits) and I remain convinced that they're totally fucking already. (She answered the door in her underwear. Come one. That was a totally hark back to the freaking pilot, plus. answered the door. in her panties.)

–does anyone have a copy of "Sister" by She Wants Revenge that the could upload?

–and maybe the pilot of "The Fringe" because the place I usually get my television has dead links for that one.

YYYYYYYYYUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKKKKKKKKKKKKKKOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Prewarning: Both Yuuko and Himawari (I don't think she was in the movie for more than 30 seconds) ship the boys. And Himawari starts off nice and likable but not overly interesting, but gets increasingly moreso as the serious progresses. You may want to strangle Watanuki at times, but he grows on you. But it's one of my current favorites.

And you mentioned Yuuko and Claymore in the same sentence, which is doing odd things to my head.
Thursday, September 25th, 2008 03:20 am (UTC)
Sounds like the series has potential. And give me a bit to read, and I'm sure a Claymore/XXXholic cross over will start making sense, or breaking my brain.
Thursday, September 25th, 2008 03:23 am (UTC)
No, it'll never make sense, unless you do it as "Yuuko has a master plan to save the world and they're all her toys." Which, really, isn't an absurd one...

They're probably 2 of my 3 favorite series currently. Though, you might want to read Tsubasa along w/ xxxHolic, though Tsubasa takes forever to get going.
Thursday, September 25th, 2008 05:31 am (UTC)
I think I'll just ask for people on my flist to tell me which chapters of Tsubasa I would need to read, because I haven't heard anything to really make it sound worth my time...

Also, which fandom is that icon from?
Thursday, September 25th, 2008 05:46 am (UTC)
I have an unnatural love for Tsubasa that far exceeds it's actually quality, though it does have some extremely good points. Honestly, I'd just speed read Tsubasa while reading xxxHolic. Though, you might ask Cho how the more recent xxxHolic volumes read not also reading Tsubasa, just to see. even at it's slow points, I do think Tsubasa is good, I just doubt the series as a whole is something you'd like more than passingly. (You might like their Magic Knight Rayearth, though, even though the series is a bit on the sparse side.0

Icon is from Apothecarius Argentum. I've only read (and posted on) the first volume so far, but it's pretty good. Shoujo romance, interesting auto-angst-he comes from a tribe of assassins who ingest poison from birth until their skin and blood become poison. Her father "bought" him as a child to be her taste tester-she's the princess and heir- because he could taste the poison but not die from it. She thought he was just a friend they found for her (they were about 11 and 8 at this time) and tried to free him from the dungeon they kept him in when he wasn't with her, but she kissed him and almost died from it. this got him put on trial for execution, but she freed him for real, and "exiled" him so they couldn't kill him. What made it stand out to me is that, instead of becoming angry and bitter towards the kingdom and doing the "I hate everything but love you" bit, he stayed in the woods nearby and became and apothecary so he could use his breeding to heal people, but is still convincingly someone who was raised to be a badass assassin, and she learned everything she could about survival and detecting poisonings and assassination attempts, so that no one else would have to constantly have his life on the life for her again. And she can back it up with both brains and skill.

Actually, Hulu has the pilot for Fringe, and will host all future episodes.

..I didn't believe you at first. Shit. That's actually a Kerowyn secret. Awesome.

To be honest? My role model at the age of 12? Tarma.

..I'm screwed up, aren't I?
Thursday, September 25th, 2008 03:19 am (UTC)
What? Hell, no, Tarma was hella badass. I bet she and Zoe would get along well.

And I have read By The Sword... WAY TOO MANY times. God, I loved that book. That, and the Winds Trilogy. Remember when Lackey was awesome?
Thursday, September 25th, 2008 03:24 am (UTC)
Yeah. I've read and re-read the Vows and Honors trilogy more often than I can count. I got it at 11.`

Oh, yes, she would get along very well with Zoe. ^_^ I can see that now.

Ah, xxxholic is lovely - I'd read it for the artwork alone honestly. I've only read Volume one so far but I'd love to get through the rest of them. I didn't know there was a movie though...I must check it out.

Anyways, see user icon.

It would be so nice to read a pretty manga again...

You are awesome cakes.

And I actually found this one in my random icon folders.

But if I had any iconning skills whatsoever, I'd make one of Kim Vermillion.

I would love some cake.

(And that is total lamesauce. I have no particular preference for uploading. I usually use spendpace, personally.)

I would love iconning skills, just in general.

And that story seems really Japanese to me - just the way it's set up, and the lack of other solutions, besides the way that people rationalize what they're doing strikes me as very Eastern. But it could be set in a different location.

There are Cheescake Factorys up here. In fact, there is one right by the place that Sakura Con is hosted every year, and I keep not going.

Since I'm doing a script writing class this quarter (in fact, that's the class I had today) I think that's what my play will be about.

And thank you! I love this icon as well.

:D

That would be wintastic joysauce.

And! Here are your uploads:
"Sister" - She Wants Revenge: http://www.sendspace.com/file/621nd4
Fringe Premiere: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UG268Z5X

Enjoy! <3

Oh, thank you so much!

If I didn't think I'd fail at Japanese culture/mores/voice, I so would.

The thing is, does the characters in that book has to be Japanese? I mean I know most NA men and women are a bit more straightforward but there are passive-aggresive (rich) people who would pay a service like that. An agency like that, if placed in strategic places like Toronto, New York, LA, Chicago (basically the megapolitans of North America) can survive. Office space rentals are (in Toronto)around $400 to $500/month (w/o utilities) and if they can manage at least two clients a month the office rental and utilities will be paid and you can pay your workers. An operation like that would prolly emply only 4 ppl at the max.

AHH! Ok, I'll stop now. You've started me with your plotbunny!!!
Thursday, September 25th, 2008 01:09 am (UTC)
You make some good point. And yeah, the basic idea would work in the US. However, I think the answers and reactions that were given in the article struck me as incredibly japanese, and I... wouldn't want to lose that?

Also, Dean discovered that she left her bra behind. Though, if they are having sex, it will mark the first time Sam has gotten laid without his partner dying horribly in the same episode.
Thursday, September 25th, 2008 01:05 am (UTC)
I had totally forgotten about that. Oh, man, Sam is so totally fucking demons.

Though, if they are having sex, it will mark the first time Sam has gotten laid without his partner dying horribly in the same episode.

It will! Progress.
Thursday, September 25th, 2008 01:27 am (UTC)
Not demons. A demon. There's a difference. I figure he's not the type to branch out beyond Ruby.

Definite progress -- up to now, he had a worse track record than Xander.

Holy crap, that IS a Kero secret. Much love for Kerowyn and the song she hates to death and follows her everywhere, badly-sung and sometimes accompanied by the hurdy-gurdy. XD *worshipped Kero when she was young*
Thursday, September 25th, 2008 02:26 pm (UTC)
I know! And I loved Kero as well - actually I still do.
