Association Meme: Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.
bellzooks gave me:
1. Kakashi/Sakura
Ah, Kakashi/Sakura. This pairing is directly to blame for me reading Naruto, Bleach, and getting into Naruto fandom. It's also caused me to meet a host of awesome people, as well as given me a fantastic host of fic to read. The story goes thusly: during a conversation on power differentials and subversions (iirc) with
smillaraaq , I was recced a Kakashi/Sakura fic, which gave me a plot bunny, and I decided that since I wanted to write fic, I should watch/read some of the canon directly. While I kinda wish I had just stuck with wikipedia and other fanfic to see if I could write in-character via osmosis, I'm glad that I didn't. Besides losing out on how awesome Sai and Tsunade are, I KNOW I wouldn't have written the Ino/Sakura dynamic right, regardless of whether I was writing femmeslash or them just as friends/rivals.
2. Katara/Zuko
smillaraaq is to blame for this one too. "Hey," she goes, "you like enemy ships, right? Would you be interested in an awesome show with kickass women where an enemy ship is the most popular in the fandom? I warn you, the fandom's crazy."
Me, sick of all the endless slash of Saiyuki fandom, "het enemy!ship that's insanely popular? Bring it and the batshit insane, too!" (In my defense, I did not know of what I spoke. I had never been in a crazy fandom, shipping a polarizing pairing, until Avatar.)
3. Music
I could live without music, but barely. I also have music playing, pretty much from the moment I wake up until I go to bed. I have nightmares about losing my iPod. My taste in music is one of the few things I'm a bit pleased with myself for. I have at least one song from just about every genre, and I have a damn eclectic taste, mainly in a skewed quadrangle of alt rock, classic rock, kick-ass pop and just random, uncategorizable things.
4. Tsunade
I prefer to be unspoiled for show - unless I think I don't care. Since
enderxenocide was a big fan of Naruto back when I was all, dismissive and smug about my disinterest, she would talk to me about it. This meant I was throughly spoiled for the show and assumed I knew who I would like and who I wouldn't. (I expected to love Temari; Tsunade was merely that lady who lets Sakura get badass.)
And then I met her.
And she was strong and tragic and damaged and decided to become Hokage because there was no one else for the job and didn't let Jiraiya get away with anything and IS THE GODDAMNED HOKAGE.
5. Fanfiction
I was writing this in my head for as long as I could remember. Then I got the internet and discovered fandom. Thank god I didn't figure out how to post to said internet until I'd been around for a few years and learned enough not to (totally) make an ass of myself, as well as let my writing mature a bit.
