This is hilariously true:
Also, I was trolling around on tv tropes (damn you,
fairest1 !) and was wondering what you would call that think Sanzo did where you TRY to go crazy and kill people because you precious person got injured, but fail.
Also I tried searching for the straight version of this (precious person is harmed: massacre ensues) via looking through the Saiyuki and Naruto pages, but couldn't find it.
Also, does Tsunade quality as a vain sorceress? I say no. While she fits the letter of the definition, I don't think she has the spirit: she never mentions her youth, she is never shown being overtly sexual (beyond what is impossible to avoid with those breasts), and she isn't threatened by other, younger woman (if she was, she wouldn't have trained two that we know of).

Keep in mind that this is based only on what you've said about her, TV Tropes, and Wikipedia, but I think the only thing she has in common with this trope is that she uses jutsu to make herself look younger.
(In general, this is a trope I really just don't like because 1, I don't think vanity, for either gender, is a very good motivation for villainy outside of the fairy tales that have done it oh so well, and 2, I really like older characters.)

Well, you have the internet, so they shouldn't be too hard to find.

And I'm not a fan of vainity as a motivator as well. I think it has potential and could potential be tragic (like, someone who needs to be beautiful because she lives in a world where that is her only value) but it's always used for women and it comes across as very old-school sexist.

*nods* Which is what crosses her off the vain sorceress list for me - she doesn't harm anyone, or really seem to care that much that people know she'd older.
