This is hilariously true:

In 2008, redbrunja resolves to...
Connect with my inner sabriel.
Cut down to ten rants a day.
Go hellsing three times a week.
Put fifty neurotic writers a month into my savings account.
Take evening classes in sumire.
Ask my boss for a kyoshi.
Get your own New Year's Resolutions:

Also, I was trolling around on tv tropes (damn you, [livejournal.com profile] fairest1 !) and was wondering what you would call that think Sanzo did where you TRY to go crazy and kill people because you precious person got injured, but fail.

Also I tried searching for the straight version of this (precious person is harmed: massacre ensues) via looking through the Saiyuki and Naruto pages, but couldn't find it.

Also, does Tsunade quality as a vain sorceress? I say no. While she fits the letter of the definition, I don't think she has the spirit: she never mentions her youth, she is never shown being overtly sexual (beyond what is impossible to avoid with those breasts), and she isn't threatened by other, younger woman (if she was, she wouldn't have trained two that we know of).

Yeah...Tsunade cares enough about her appearance to make herself look a bit younger than her calendar age, but it's not as if she's harming or exploiting other people to do so, or going to some sort of insane lengths for beauty's sake -- with her massive power and skill level, a youthful-appearance jutsu seems more like it's equivalent to a mundane human using a bit of dye to touch up grey hairs, or slapping on some wrinkle cream or concealer. She really doesn't seem to care if folks know how old she really is -- did she ever once complain about Naruto calling her "grandma" all the time? Orochimaru honestly seems like he's closer to the spirit of that -- he's obsessed with immortality, will do any horrible thing necessary to achieve it, etc. -- and while it's presented as a matter of power rather than vanity, well, you still don't see him going after replacement bodies that look decrepitly aged, or even young and ugly, eh? Eternal youth and beauty may not be his goal, but he doesn't seem to mind them coming along for the ride...

*nods* Which is what crosses her off the vain sorceress list for me - she doesn't harm anyone, or really seem to care that much that people know she'd older.
