Isn't Charging People Money For Books Against The Librarian's Code Or Something?

Guess what?

The new library I now use, up where I go to school, charges people for interlibrary loans.

That's right, boys and girls, they charge you for the fracking books! Isn't the library supposed to be free? What is wrong with them?

The worst part is, I hit the point where the Saiyuki manga becomes awesome, and now I'm willing to pay 3 bucks to find out what happens next.

That...that really sucks. I'm sorry the library there is doing that. Is that the city or the university library?

Hmm. That's pretty unusual for them to charge for ILL books. Of course, public libraries are even more strapped for cash than academic ones...they probably have to charge to cover the cost of shipping. Given my knowledge of library funding (or rather, the lack thereof), I can at least tell you I'm pretty sure they're not making any profits off of your $3 per ILL request.

And btw, did you ever find those books you lost?
