Angry Chicks In Leather: Lilith Saintcrow on Urban Fantasy
This article made me remember why I love urban Fantasy so much. (Also, don't read the comments - the first two made me want to shank somebody. After that, however, someone with an actual brain commented.)
I've read Saintcrow before - the first book in her Dante Valentine series, and while I didn't continue to read the sequels (the book had a very-bitter-side-of-bittersweet ending and the love interest I liked got iced, and I felt while it was possible to bring him back it would feel very cop-out like, so I didn't continue. However, seeing Saintcrow nail some of the classic problems of UF, I'm tempted to give that series another try.)
Which is to say, short version, this chick walks that walk and isn't merely talking that talk.
Frankly, this article combined with talking with
nimblnymph is making me excited about writing my (good) vampire story.
Also, in the same vein,
edenfalling has a great post on gender and writing here.
