Okay, so I got my Princess Tutu DVDs today, and I think they were worth the $45. I didn't get a chance to watch much as I have six poems due by Wendsday, but from what I saw so far the actors who do Duck and Fakir are ADORABLE. I have a feeling the dub will really grow on me. Also, ans sexy as Rue looks on the cover... seriously, Rue alone, on the cover? Did I miss the part where this was about someone called Princess Tutu?

Also, I watched the first episode of Merlin this weekend and the vids I've seen made the show look much, much better than it is. Seriously, Merlin? If you're going to pick fights with knights, please have the brains to make up for you lack of martial prowess. Secondly, do not spend the pilot episode whining about how you want to be special and then whining about how suddenly a dragon is telling you that you're special. It doesn't work like that. It makes me really want to read/watch a story were someone longs to be special and have a destiny, gets one, and then is like HELL YEAH.

^_^ I am in love with Luci Christian and Chris Patton. They work together amazingly, and both are very skilled. I used to watch only dubs for no real reason, now I watch subs unless one of those two, or someone like Crispin Freeman is featured.

The packaging of the set sort of bothers me. For such a vibrant series, I don't get why the box is. . .muddy brown. Or why the art is missing from the physical discs. What is up with that?

I want to see Merlin, but I know that when I finally do, all it's going to make me want to do is go and read a lot of Jane Yolen.

THEY ARE POSSIBLY THE MOST ADORABLE THING EVER!

And yeah, it does have a very dark packaging. I know why they did that, to try to make it look cooler and more adult, but it's kinda selling against what made it popular, you know?

Merlin is badly written. Very badly.

They are fantastic. I just finished Welcome to the NHK, which also contains them. They both have great range.

Yeah, that does make sense, but the end result is somewhat ugly, in my opinion. Also, my friend and I have a deal in which he's watching it (I have to watch some Bleach,) and he found it very jarring when he inserted the disc and suddenly he hit the very bright and colorful menu, after the dark packaging and discs. I understand trying to market it that way, but it's dishonest, and fairly unappealing (to me.) ^^; Sorry, mini-rant. But it's like marketing Welcome to the NHK like a hilarious comedy instead of the invasive, sad, dark, wonderful show it is.

That's unfortunate, but I guess I'll see when NBC picks it up.

I don't agree that it's ugly (Rue it too hot for it to be, and the brown matches her hair nicely) but it is certainly dishonest, and I can't imagine it does them any favors via marketing. People who pick it up looking for a dark, sexy story aren't going to get what they want, and the people looking for a fluffy subversive magical girl show aren't going to know that that's what they're looking at.

The packaging has received much, much negative commentary.

I suspect what happened is that a random marketting person who knows nothing about the show was put in charge and just chose the most striking official image they could find.

See... you would think that.

And lemme tell you, the original Tutu covers were a bru-ha-ha of international calamity levels.

But when that one came in - EVERYONE who had proofed what was supposed to be the packaging - including the marketing dudes went "WHERE DID THIS COVER COME FROM?!"

The world will never know.

SERIOUSLY?

That's wild.

That's unsurprising.

Yeah, I know a lot of people liked it as a guilty pleasure, but I... was just left cold.

And I try not to get too nitpicky with special effects cause I know television shows don't have a lot of money, but... yeah.

Nuu, Sousuke. Sagara Sousuke from Full Metal Panic. Sasuke is Yuri Lowenthal (I think that's his last name).

It's hilarious to hear Chris swear up a storm in a perfectly neutral voice as Sousuke. Gosh I need to find those dubs again.

*blushes*

*fails at reading comprehension*

Oops. And I imagine listening to him swear would be hilarious.
