Thoughts: I kinda hope Hinata is dead, because if not, this could lead to a Hinata/Naruto ending, which while awesome for Hinata (and I want her to get everything she wants), would also probably mean a Sasuke/Sakura ending, which would suck.

You know, this is when I wish SO HARD that Kishimoto had let Sakura learn the jutsu to calm the Nine-Tails. Although maybe we'll have a repeat of her running towards him, and maybe this time we'll get a successful beauty tames the best?

I personally would love a NaruHina ending, even if it meant dealing with a SasuSaku, if only because I love Naruto and Hinata combined more than I love Sakura (blasphemy, I know. Don't get me wrong, I do love Sakura, but I also love Naruto and Hinata, both as a separate people and as a couple)

I could live with SasuSaku if Sakura beats the living shit out of him first.

Plus you can always pretend she's cheating on him with Kakashi (assuming he's still alive, of course). I know I will.

KIND OF REALLY EXCITED~

In the diseased corner of my Sasuke-loving brain, I kind of want him to show up right now. Both for the "holy crap what happened to the village I came here to destroy D:" and for the exploration of the idea that the Mangekyou can control the Kyuubi. Just saying. It would be fascinating.

So much love for Hinata. I'm...not happy that she went down so quickly, but this was a pretty epic moment of awesome anyway, since she, out of the entire population of Konoha, full of badass ninjas, got her ass out there to help Naruto out. With an awesome courageous speech and absolutely no stuttering, and totally confident body language. UGH. I could cry.

And yes. If she dies, I will be miserable, even if that means no Sakura/Sasuke, which is of the good. Personally, I'm hoping for Sasuke to die in that semi-lame 'my death redeems my honor!' sort of way.

I thought Hinata rocked this chapter. But it just makes me annoyed then, that she is so easily dispatched. I would be okay with her sacrificing herself as a way to inspire Naruto to rage (since losing anyone he cares about is likely to do that, especially when they're hurt right before his eyes), but it's just so lame that male characters like Konohamaru live against the odds while much stronger ninjas like Hinata, who are female, die or are quickly beaten so the boys can shine. BLEGH.

And that's the beauty of Pain's psychosis... or the utter suckability of Kishimoto's writing. I'm not sure which it is right now. Pain is either so deliciously twisted that he doesn't SEE the hypocracy to some of what he says... or Kishimoto is trying for a level of grandiose that he's not at ALL capable of with this character. Personally, I like the idea of Kishimoto fucking with our heads and pretending to be a bad writer when in fact he's genius, if only because I adore the characterization of Pain as going, "they did this to me, so I'm doing this to them... but it's not revenge. It's justice." *giggles* Sociopaths are so delicious!

I was on KakaSaku forum not too long ago and ronsmyhero had a really good point regarding SasuSaku and how it will NOT happen, even if Hinata doesn't die: It won't happen at all because of the way Sasuke turned his back on EVERYONE. And that fact will be nailed home permanently the minute he kills anyone from Konoha. Sakura may say she loves him and all that... but I doubt very much she loves him to the point where she'd let him harm the village or forgive him for turning his back on them like that. The one panel where she says "We'll get stronger together"? I don't think she meant they'll get stronger in order to bring Sasuke home. What I think is that was her saying, "He doesn't want our help? Fine... we'll get strong together, without him. We still have EACH OTHER." So... yeah. That's my take on it.

But Hinata... THANK YOU FOR NOT BEING LAME LIKE EVERYONE ELSE! Especially Shikamaru's dad. Maybe that'll finally make the freakin ninja of Konoha wake up and go, "Hmmm... we've got the numbers on him. We can so own his ass!" I mean, really. It makes SENSE to rush Pain en masse. First of all, it uses up chakra to maintain his paths. The more he has to use his techniques, the more chakra he has to use. Second... he's one freakin man against HOW many ninja? Time to show that team work you spent all of the first freakin' half talking about, Kishimoto!

YEP. The character amuses me, but HOLY SHIT FAIL AT LIFE. I especially liked the part when he was all 'This is exactly how my parents were killed right in front of me! So I'm going to the do the same thing myself! MOAR PAIN! PEACE BLAH BLAH GIMMIE POWER OWNING MY OWN EMOTIONAL SHIT WUT?'

I'm not that opposed to SasuSaku if Sasuke can get his head out of his ass. But I'm not convinced that Kishimoto can (or want to bother) writing an actual relationship between Naruto and Hinata. Or else she might lose her personality or something, and then I'd rather he just didn't do it at all.

Shit, I wish Sakura was all up in Pein's face like Inner Sakura times one million. That part where she screamed for Naruto to save them is irritating me more in retrospect. Deva Pein is all that's left, and he doesn't look like a taijutsu specialist. Let Naruto hammer him with ninjutsu and then Sakura zags in during that five second interval and wallops him. Pein would get that angry WTF look on his face and be like 'it seems that you've broken my nose. It seems that I'm not going anywhere. It seems like I'm bleeding all over my snazzy cloak. It seems like Madara is going to be laughing at me again.'

This makes more sense to me than SleepyFans' translation because I couldn't understand why Nagato, Yahiko and Konan would be begging food off the Three Sanin, and then ask one of them to be their Sensei if Leaf Shinobi had killed their parents.
