Oh, Naruto, do you know how lame it sounds to have a flashback and then repeat exactly what the flashback just said? Because... it's super lame.

Oh, so now love is to blame for war? Get pegged, Pain. How about whiny little brats who don't have enough inner strength to stop the cycle? How about them? Stop blaming other people for the fact that YOU'RE acting like the ninjas who killed your parents. YOU.

Thoughts: I kinda hope Hinata is dead, because if not, this could lead to a Hinata/Naruto ending, which while awesome for Hinata (and I want her to get everything she wants), would also probably mean a Sasuke/Sakura ending, which would suck.

You know, this is when I wish SO HARD that Kishimoto had let Sakura learn the jutsu to calm the Nine-Tails. Although maybe we'll have a repeat of her running towards him, and maybe this time we'll get a successful beauty tames the best?

I was on KakaSaku forum not too long ago and ronsmyhero had a really good point regarding SasuSaku and how it will NOT happen, even if Hinata doesn't die: It won't happen at all because of the way Sasuke turned his back on EVERYONE. And that fact will be nailed home permanently the minute he kills anyone from Konoha. Sakura may say she loves him and all that... but I doubt very much she loves him to the point where she'd let him harm the village or forgive him for turning his back on them like that. The one panel where she says "We'll get stronger together"? I don't think she meant they'll get stronger in order to bring Sasuke home. What I think is that was her saying, "He doesn't want our help? Fine... we'll get strong together, without him. We still have EACH OTHER." So... yeah. That's my take on it.

I used to think both Sakura and Naruto would be important to Sasuke's eventual redemption because they both love/d him in different ways. I don't think so anymore.

I think Sasuke's going to be the one they couldn't save - from himself. He's just failed with Killer Bee and I think he'll do anything to save his own ass, even kidnapping his old friends and turning Naruto over to Madara (assuing Naruto manages to defeat Pain or at least cause it to retreat).

That being the case, there's no way Sakura could continue to love Sasuke if he dares to harm Naruto or anyone/thing else she cares about. I'm not sure about NaruSaku as a romantic pairing but those two are beautiful BFFs and she would kill or die to protect him, even if it's against the other boy she loved.

But Hinata... THANK YOU FOR NOT BEING LAME LIKE EVERYONE ELSE! Especially Shikamaru's dad.

Hinata rocks my world right now (but why did she call herself "selfish"?).

See, that's the other thing; I LOVE NaruSaku as BFFs. They're absolutely adorable together in THAT sense. Romantically? *shakes head* I know Kishimoto will ruin it completely. Naruto will be the big He-Man and Sakura will quietly follow along with whatever he says. She'll go from being a capable young woman who can take care of herself to relying solely on Naruto to get the job done. Just watch; I'd bet my stash of porn that if this goes canon Kishimoto will do JUST that.

But as friends... they're fantastic. I like the idea very much of Team Kakashi being Naruto's family. It's something he's sort of needed/wanted, and to me it's ruining that by putting him with Sakura. Sure, as a first crush it's fine... but in canon? The family dynamic loses its touchingness.

I think Hinata said that she was being selfish because she was stepping in for HER personal reasons rather than village reasons. She was fighting because she loved naruto, not because Pain just destroyed her home.

That is so true. the_sun_is_up describes it as Sakura and Naruto's buddy cop dynamic, and you guys are right, it's awesome, and since Naruto is all about FAMILY, in a way, dating Sakura would be like dating your sister cheapen it.

That said (and this is something I come back to over and over again) I do not think that canon Naruto/Sakura would be as bad as Sasuke/Sakura, ESPECIALLY since I think the romantic resolution would happen at the very, very end, not giving Kishimoto time to screw it up.

oh, no doubt NaruSaku wouldn't be nearly as catastrophic as SasuSaku. And if Kishi DID pull an Avatar and put the hooking up at the end, not giving him a chance to botch it six ways to hell... then I'd be okay with it. And write plenty of fanfic where it doesn't work out.
