redbrunja: (Touch Me (Hakkai))

Oh My God Do I Ever Need A Cigerette.

I don’t know how many of you know this, but I have this embarrassing habit.

When I’m really excited about something because it’s hilarious, or hurts-so- good, or my-god-that’s-wonderful-storytelling, but mostly at the delicious angst and oh-so-pitch-perfect humor, I squeal.

Yes, I actually squee. Literally, I have this little laugh-squeal thing that everyone who has ever heard me make it has cracked up at and/or given me weird looks.

Well, I just finished Saiyuki Reload 7. I read it in the parking lot of Barnes & Noble in twenty minutes, and at every three minute interval, I was squealing out loud.

I kid you not.

At one point I’m pretty sure that someone walking by my open car window heard me and started cracking up. Either that, or someone in her group had just said something  hilarious.

Spoiler-iffic review to follow.

(And in case you were wondering, Reload 7 was good. Damn good.)

I squeek. Like I did just now when I saw your pretty green Hakkai demon-form icon.

Terms Commenly Used In Acedemia is also awesome, though for different reasons. Especially "this is the prettiest graph".

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2007-04-12 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
Glad to know I'm not alone. (And isn't demon Hakkai awesome? Wait until you read Reload. *fans self*)

I love the acedemia one to, and I'm so glad I found it again. I came across it once and then I forgot to save it, so I totally gacked it once I had found it again.

*resisting the Saiyuki manga...resisting!Until you're around and I can steal them all at once*

"The other results didn't make any sense."

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2007-04-12 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I actually don't have the complete series- I'm missing 1-5 of Saiyuki and 1-3 of Reload. Oh no, another excuse to buy manga! ("Mom, I had to! Otherwise [livejournal.com profile] mzminola wouldn't have been able to read the whole series! It's all for her sake!")

"The other results didn't make any sense."

Actually, that icon is so, so apropos for my into to language class, which is slowly driving me insane. Tonight I need to make flashcards and memorize the pronouncation symbols in the phonetic alphabet. *shudders* And they're explaining how works are formed, and it's so diffrent from how I've experience it- new works happen when shakespear makes them up! Surely I'm not the only one who knows this!

[identity profile] mzminola.livejournal.com 2007-04-12 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
*snicker*

Oh dear. It's also hurting your spelling, unless you really do mean new "works".
Well, 'chortle' came from Jabberwhocky, and 'quiz', I heard, was a dare.

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2007-04-12 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
*crawls into the Tamaki corner of woe to grow mushrooms*

See if I buy you manga. You can just have no idea what happened with Goku and the river youakai and evil experiments on Kougaiji! Or wait three weeks for interlibrary loan to work! *huffs*

Actually that bad thing it that replacing 'works' for 'words' is something I did before I took the class of evil and woe. Just my classic dyslexia coming out to play. But no, feel free to look at my typos, and point and mock like a mocky thing.

[identity profile] mzminola.livejournal.com 2007-04-13 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
I was snickering at the stuff in parentheses! I'm sorry!

I've done some really fun typos. I can't remember any of them right now, but I blame that on the tequilas the typos bought me.

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2007-04-13 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, that makes much more sense.

And I'm glad to know that I'm not the only person who's typos buy her tequila, get her doin' shots, and then sit back to watch me fumble at the keyboard.

[identity profile] mzminola.livejournal.com 2007-04-13 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yay!

At least the typos buy- I don't know how many times the plotbunnies've stiffed me.

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2007-04-13 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Those bitches. Like it's not enough that they suck your time, they leave you with the tab as well.

(Nice icon, by the way.)

[identity profile] mzminola.livejournal.com 2007-04-13 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
The L one? Thanks. I nicked it from a quiz result, and turned it green. *pets L*

Yay Hakkai!

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2007-04-13 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
L almost rivels Hakkai in... well, no he doesn't be he's also very, very pettable. *loves Hakkai*

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2007-04-13 07:25 am (UTC)(link)
And that's suposed to be 'but'.

[identity profile] pzb.livejournal.com 2007-04-18 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
I'm a bit behind....

I squeal... And I talk to myself. As I did again today while in the breakroom on my lunch, rereading Reload 7 (and discovered the eye thing I mentioned in some other post)...of course, with one of my managers in the room. He kinda looked at me funny, but didn't say anything.

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2007-04-18 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm glad I'm not the only one - but I really wish I had a chuckle, instead of a squeal, because it gets really humiluating when you're in psych class, see where something is going, and squeal when no one else has started laughing yet.

Where do you work, by the way?

[identity profile] pzb.livejournal.com 2007-04-18 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I squeal. I've made people look at me on several occasions. (though I honestly think I get more looks from talking to myself. Most of my coworkers are used to that by now. XD)

I'm the artist for the Trader Joe's in Eugene. Not as much fun as it used to be when I still lived in Southern California (worked at a much better store) but it pays too well to leave right now. :D

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2007-04-18 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I know! I've had so many people give me Looks in the past two weeks - I'm really going to be working on controlling my squealing.

I thought Trader Joe's was a grocery store - why do they have an artist? And I'm sorry that it's less interesting than it used to be.

[identity profile] pzb.livejournal.com 2007-04-19 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I'm such a freaking squealer. XD Mostly at manga/anime stuff and RPs. It's highly amusing to watch, I'm sure.

Trader Joe's employs artists for End Cap displays - as an attempt to give the company a "neighborhood store" feel.

This is what I used to be able to do... (http://pics.livejournal.com/pzb/pic/0000fefc/g3)

This is what I have to do now...so very little art (and even that one now is too much...

Though I've managed (http://pics.livejournal.com/pzb/pic/0008892f/g3) to get away with a few things... XD (http://pics.livejournal.com/pzb/pic/0008d4hg/g3)

Grr...it didn't like the second link....

I can see why you're getting kinda bored.

I really liked the asian woman, and when I got to the Saiyuki boys drinking beer, I squealed so loudly that my friend who was in the room (and I recently sucked into Saiyuki) came over and she cracked up as well.

[identity profile] pzb.livejournal.com 2007-04-20 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
Hee, yeah, that one made me smile every time I walked by. I was sad when that one came down. If it had been like my old store and they were all done on foam board (which we couldn't reuse) I so would have kept that one. :D

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2007-04-20 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
At least you still have pictures.
