gacked from [personal profile] p0lyleritae :

Six ships you're into right now.
01. Lily/Snape (Harry Potter)
02. Maka/Soul (Soul Eater)
03. Snape/Hermione (Harry Potter)
04. Chuck/Sarah (I know, it surprised me too.)
05. Ellie/Captain Awesome (Chuck)
06. Kahlan/Richard (Legend of the Seeker)

Three ships you liked, but don't anymore.
07. Bill/Sookie
08. Casey/Sarah (Chuck)
09. Stein/Medusa (Soul Eater)

Three ships you never liked.
10. Harry/Ginny (Harry Potter)
11. Soul Eater/Blair (Soul Eater
12. Obediah/Tony (Iron Man)

Two ships you're curious about, but don't actually ship.

13. Black Star/Tsubaki
14. Chuck/Serena

Why do you dislike #11 so much? → Blair/Soul Eater
Blair is Ms Fanservice, which doesn't endear her to me and frankly, after Soul's cracks about Maka's cleavage I would had for him to get with a chest girl.

Who is someone you know that ships #14? → Chuck/Serena
Bueller? Bueller?

What would be your ideal scenario for couple #3? → Snape/Hermione.
Something where they grow closer together via intellectual stimulation and then end up in bed.

Which is your favorite moment for couple #1? → Lily/Snape
Well, just finding out that it's (unreciprocated) canon sent me over the moon. But I would have to say when Snape is trying to apologize for calling Lily 'mudblood' and she just won't hear it.

How long have you been following couple #6? → Richard/Kahlan
I knew I was getting OTP about them in the fifth episode, with that line about what Richard thinks when he looks at her, and that whole scene were she flips out when Richard is going to tie that kid's hands and he has this look on his face while she's freaking out.

What's the story with #8? What made you stop liking them/caring? → Casey/Sarah
I started to like Chuck, Sarah and Casey stopped giving each other 'I don't trust you' eyefucks, and Casey got a freaking brilliant love interest.

You have the power to make one ship non-existent. Choose from #10 or #12 → Harry/Ginny or Tony/Obediah.

Even though there is a scene in Iron Man that was permanently ruined for me because of the people I watched it with flipped out of there OH MY GOD SUBTEXT LOLL!!!1111!111!!!1 SQUEE I'm going to go with Harry/Ginny.... no, wait, I don't actually care that much about Harry.

Obediah/Tony.

Which ship do you prefer, #2 or #4? → Maka/Soul or Chuck/Sarah.
MAKA/SOUL THIS IS NOT EVEN A QUESTION.

What interests you about #14? → Chuck/Serena.
I like the weird sibling affection love/hate with a dash of sexual tension thing they have going. And the fact that Serena's mother is one of the only woman that Chuck a.) respects b.) doesn't want in her pants. Honestly, even more attractive than Chuck/Serena is Lily being maternal towards Chuck.

Why did you stop liking #7? → Bill/Sookie

Bill turned into a dick, Sookie lost the sweetness that made her so attractive in the first couple of books, and I stopped caring.

Did your waning interest in #9 kill your interest in the show? → Medusa/Stein
Nope! I found better things to ship.

What’s a song that reminds you of #5? → Ellie/Captain Awesome

I can't think of one.

If you could have any of these two pairings double-date, who would it be?
Maka and Soul and Hermione and Snape all go out to dinner at some very comfortable, cafe book shop. I honestly think they would have a chance at getting along. Well, Hermione and Maka would no question, and Soul and Snape might.

Have #2 kissed yet? →  Maka/Soul
It's nigh impossible to be, but no.

Did #4 have a happy ending? If the show hasn't ended yet, do you think a happy ending is likely? → Chuck/Sarah
Not yet, but they have series couple written all over them.

What would make you start shipping #13? → Black Star/Tsubaki

More 'I'm the sky and you're the stars' conversations.

If only one could happen, which would you prefer, #2 or #6? → Maka/Soul or Richard/Kahlan
Maka/Soul, without question. Honestly, Soul Eater is just better all around, and I think that would make the pairing that much more satisfying, even though both of these pairings are SO slated to be canon.

You have the power to decide the fate of #10. What happens to them? → Harry/Ginny
Nothing. They never get together, Ginny gets over her crush but is still shy, Harry finds someone a bit more honestly spunky to marry.

Which of these ships do you love the most?
Maka/Soul

For some reason I'm honestly and pleasantly surprised to see how many Potter fans just didn't really like the Harry/Ginny pairing. If even the fans can sense there's something off about their dynamic in terms of a good relationship - and we obviously don't know them as well as Mrs. Rowling herself - it makes me wonder what was occurring in Rowling's head that made them being together seem logical. :/
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 07:40 am (UTC)
*nods*

Honestly, I think her reasoning was that she wanted a way to explicitly make Harry one of the Weasley's and as a result, Ginny wound up being written as whatever the character needed to be for Harry in that moment (in the first books she was a shy fangirl, in the later she was a tough tomboy, in none of them did she ever challenge Harry or did we see her own goals).

It's the same with Tonks/Lupin. Even the fans of that pairing (myself included) hated how it turned out in canon.

I know you hate Hermione/Ron but I actually think that she played that relationship out well - both of them are individual characters outside that relationship and we see them changing and growing.

Like a bad fanfic, you mean? :p
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 02:16 pm (UTC)
Sadly, yes.

I read bad fanfic of that pairing that was better than canon.

If you like Snape/Hermione growing closer through intellectual means... Might I recommend... Ordinary People (http://www.obscurusbooks.org/html/Hayseed/OrdinaryPeople/index.html) -- "How do you go about life when you're one of the ordinary looking people? A SS/HG romance that strives for realism." I can't remember if there is graphic smut or not but there is definitely smut.

I also recommend the story Getting the Hang of Thursdays by the same author of you haven't read it -- it's a classic in SSHG fandom. Based on a glitch in time where they keep living the same day over and over and Hermione dies every day and only SSHG recognize that the day is repeating.

Oh, man. I don't know why I didn't rec this in the first place since it's definitely a "get to know each other and then holy shit we're undeniably attracted" fic. Very very slow build up to the relationship and the pairing isn't strictly SSHG at first... Denial (http://thepetulantpoetess.com/viewstory.php?sid=6937).

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 12:59 pm (UTC)
Hey. :] I've read a some of the SSHG fics you recommended. I'll check out denial.

I'm not sure I like the 'out of classroom' setting in fanfictions as much as I like the in classroom. That's because I have a teacher fetish though. >_> (KAKASAKU).

Your icon makes me chuckle. :D
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 06:46 pm (UTC)
I like it all and I definitely have a bit of a teacher fetish myself (<3 Kakasaku!).

If you want an epically long (and I mean epically! Full of sex scene after sex scene for over 100 chapters XD) SSHG teacher/student relationship fic I would suggest For Someone Special (http://www.restrictedsection.org/story.php?story=1284). And there are plenty of other good ones out there. :D
Saturday, August 15th, 2009 07:47 am (UTC)
Oh, wow, that is epically long.

I may have to mentally gear myself up for tackling htat one.
Saturday, August 15th, 2009 07:53 am (UTC)
Haha, yes. It is quite an undertaking. Keep in mind it's not perfection considering it was written in 2004 (there are a couple canon things that are incorrect) and also... Probably more than half the fic is sex scene after delicious sex scene. XD
Sunday, August 16th, 2009 07:52 am (UTC)
Oooh, nice.

And great icon.
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 02:24 pm (UTC)
*flails*

I was looking for getting the Hang of Thursdays! Thank you so much! And I am SO going to read Ordinary People. The bit where you find out why he has no idea what the dinner is on Thursday? Made me squee so hard on first reread.
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 06:55 pm (UTC)
Yay! I'm glad I could help.

I guess I have to reread it again because I don't remember that part. :p ::dives!::

Edit: So now I've reread it and first of all, squee to the dinner part! And also, the first time I read this there was an alternative "coffee" ending and I'm not sure you've seen it... Here (http://ashwinder.sycophanthex.com/viewstory.php?sid=9312&i=1) I can understand why the author would want to pick one and stick with it in the end but to be honest the ending she prefers terrifies the shit out of me on every level so I prefer my happy ending. Haha.

I heard about the original ending. My friend was annoyed that she read it first and ended up dramatized and I read it later and got the HEA. I'd love to read the original, sad ending... but the one at the link looks like the same one.
Monday, August 24th, 2009 10:47 pm (UTC)
No, the sad and scary ending is the true ending. Note the chapter titles on ashwinder and the last chapter is titled, Pete and Repeat go for Coffee... (http://ashwinder.sycophanthex.com/viewstory.php?sid=9312&i=1). That's the happy ending. The chapter before that is the ending that's on the other site. ::nodnod::
Tuesday, August 25th, 2009 04:03 am (UTC)
Thank you. I've read it now and... it's SO not the true ending. I mean, I approve of people making HP darker in general, and having just Hermione die would have really worked, but EVERYONE DIES? VOLDEORT WINS? That just seems SO against everything HP is about that I can't quite buy it.
Tuesday, August 25th, 2009 05:19 am (UTC)
Yeah... I think from a scientific standpoint it probably makes more sense buuuut... The real ending just scares me. They just... all turn into nothingness? I prefer the happy ending.
Friday, August 28th, 2009 04:55 am (UTC)
I'm a HEA sucker too. I could have handled Hermione dying, but all of them? Hell to the no.
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 07:46 am (UTC)
Legend of the Seeker? ...Is that based on the Wizard's First Rule line of books what's name I can't remember?
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 02:15 pm (UTC)
They made a tv series? I couldn't even finish the books.
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 02:17 pm (UTC)
They did, which I'm personally enjoying. I've heard bad things about the book series.
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 02:18 pm (UTC)
What station is the series on? HBO?
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 02:23 pm (UTC)
HBO? Ha, I totally wish!

Actually, I don't know what station it's playing on - but the first season is all up on hulu and I'm watching it via *cough* alternative means.
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 02:24 pm (UTC)
Heh. All I can do is use alternative means to watch American tv shows. >.>
Thursday, August 13th, 2009 12:55 am (UTC)
You know, I could have sworn I might have seen a few seconds of it on NBC. . .
Thursday, August 13th, 2009 04:36 am (UTC)
I think it's on cable...
Thursday, August 13th, 2009 03:11 am (UTC)
If you have Netflix, you watch watch it legally there and soothe your vestiges of being a moral consumer.
Thursday, August 13th, 2009 04:37 am (UTC)
Oh, at this point I have no shame left.
Thursday, August 13th, 2009 04:41 am (UTC)
I have enough for both of us. Really, "If it's not worth consuming legally (assuming you can, some things, like most Asian dramas, you can't) then it's not worth consuming." goes a long way towards clearing your slate of junk.
Friday, August 14th, 2009 08:30 am (UTC)
That is a really smart, ethical way to do it.
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 04:04 pm (UTC)
Apparently it's a very very loose adaptation, to the point where some people who loathed the books are loving the tv series.
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 09:57 pm (UTC)
Oh wow. Maybe I should check it out. But is there an evil manifest chicken?
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 08:34 am (UTC)
What would be your ideal scenario for couple #3? → Snape/Hermione.
Something where they grow closer together via intellectual stimulation and then end up in bed.

This. I'm not in HP fandom (I failed to finish any of the books with my short attention span) and I would never ship Snape/Hermione, but that scenario? Yes. It totally beats the only other scenario I've seen for the ship...
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 02:06 pm (UTC)
Which was....?

I'm very curious now.
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 10:30 pm (UTC)
Oh, you know, Snape rapes Hermione, continues to stalk her, but it's still considered "Snape/Hermione".
Thursday, August 13th, 2009 12:57 am (UTC)
One of the many, many contributing factors that I left the Harry Potter fandom. Granted, it's not like any of the other fandoms I've been part of are any better . . .
Saturday, August 15th, 2009 07:11 am (UTC)
WHAT THE FUCK.

You know, that plot line never works for ANY pairing but for Snape/Hermione... somehow, it seems particularly heinous.
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 08:54 am (UTC)
I don't ship it, but I would join you in curiosity about Chuck/Serena.
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 02:17 pm (UTC)
I know - I'm tempted to poke around the fandom and see what other people are doing with it.
Thursday, August 13th, 2009 03:09 am (UTC)
I find that the strongest argument for supporting Sarah/Chuck is that anything else would make Chuck extremely sad, which would be rather like kicking a puppy. (And separating Ellie and Awesome would be like kicking the puppy and then making it watch while you put its toys through a grinder and then tossing the puppy in a river.) I take it Casey's love interest shows up in season 2?

Thursday, August 13th, 2009 05:41 am (UTC)
you know, that's always been the strongest argument (in my mind) for Aang/Katara in Avatar: anything else would make Aang extremely sad, and that would be like kicking a puppy. I mean, even I, a hardcore Zutara shipper, feel somewhat guilty at the thought of writing fic wherein Aang thinks he has the girl of his dreams and then, uh, loses her. I'M SORRY AANG YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT THINKING OF HER AS A POSSESSION--AND THAT'S PARTIALLY WHAT YOU'RE DOING, I KNOW YOU DON'T MEAN TO, YOU'RE YOUNG--IS A BAD THING, AND FURTHERMORE YOU AND HER TOGETHER IS A BAD THING, AND AND AND I'LL MAKE IT UP TO YOU--FRUIT PIE?
Thursday, August 13th, 2009 05:53 am (UTC)
Thankfully, Chuck and Awesome don't think of Sarah and Ellie as possessions. Chuck thinks Sarah is pretty and confusing and really good at saving his life, while Awesome pretty much thinks Ellie hung the moon, and while she often seems passive because she's nice and caring and supportive and wants to take care of everyone, she actually pretty much calls the shots in all her relationships.

The things about Aang is that I agree to a point, but none of it is unusual for a 12-year-old with few friends, and it's not done in a way that makes me think a bit of natural growing up won't fix it. The problem with the pairing is that what works just fine for "12-year-old with a crush and the girl who will probably reciprocate once he grows up" doesn't work for the epic love story they wanted it to be in season 3.

Awesome/Ellie is pretty much one of my favorite ships ever.

I know what you mean. The thing that gets me most is that EIP portrayed it so well--Aang is still in some ways just a kid who can't distinguish reality from what he sees onstage, Katara is still dealing with unexpected professions from his side, a war, and sorting out her own feelings, and maybe they could have something but she doesn't think now is the time--and then it's like, well, I guess now IS the time, 'cause I'm a-gonna smooch you now!

oh finale why do you make me cry so.
Thursday, August 13th, 2009 06:21 am (UTC)
I have no problem kicking that puppy.

But as megan says, comparing the pairings in Chuck to the ones in Avatar is really... not a good comparison?

The people in relationships are all VERY much adults and love each other dearly and see each other as people.

Awesome, in particular, has impressed me over and over again by seeing Ellie's pov and putting her priorities first.

For me, it's that it's becoming more and more clear that Sarah/Chuck not happening would really make SARAH sad. Honestly, it took me all of season 1 to warm up to Chuck.

(And separating Ellie and Awesome would be like kicking the puppy and then making it watch while you put its toys through a grinder and then tossing the puppy in a river.

Yes. Just thinking on it makes me weep.

Casey's love interest shows up for only one episode in season 2, but trust me - she's perfect.
Saturday, August 15th, 2009 02:37 pm (UTC)
I don't think I warmed up to Chuck until late in season 1, but I think it was clear from a few episodes in that, if everything else could work out, Sarah would be far happier with Chuck (regardless of if she kept her career) than without.

With Awesome, I get the feeling, based on a couple episodes in the first season, that he may actually be something of a self-centered jock. Not a jerk, just not necessarily good at thinking about others. But he's really, really in love with Ellie to the point where it typically takes precedence over anything else, and Chuck is kind of an extension of Ellie that's like the pre-adolescent baby brother he never got to teach about girls.

This is true. And as episodes go on, it becomes more and more clear that Awesome has a really good heart and he IS very willing to think about other people (okay, mainly Ellie).
