 I feel like the Sci-Fi icons I have aren't Sci-Fi enough.

No, Foreigner is part of a different series entirely, where the protagonist is in many ways one of CJC's patented Damaged Young Men. Most of the viewpoint characters in Chanur are female hani (although one of my favorite male characters, a member of a different non-human race, gets a scene or so from his own viewpoint in Chanur's Homecoming).

  • The Pride of Chanur (originally, a stand-alone novel)
  • Chanur's Venture
  • The Kif Strike Back (CJC's note on the title - never use a joke title as a placeholder: your publisher may like it and take you seriously)
  • Chanur's Homecoming (my fave)
  • Chanur's Legacy (continues the story from the principal viewpoint of the prevous hani protagonist's niece: IMO, she whines a bit and has Issues, but YMMV)
