1. When I started shipping them Before I even watched the show. Smilla was like 'great show. Het enemies!pairing is one of the most popular pairings.' And I was like 'hook a girl up!'

3. What makes me happy about them That they never hold back with each other, and are actually surprisingly alike.

6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other For Zuko... Jin. For Katara... Haru.
7. My happily ever after for them They ditch their respective SO, starting having sexy funtimes, and finally get married.

1. When I started shipping them I honestly can't remember. Sometime in the second season, or end of the first, I think.
2. What I think their challenge is The writers won't let their characters develop naturally.
3. What makes me happy about them For a while, they were rather adorable.
4. What makes me sad about them They're stuck in the same character patterns of the first season.
5. What moment I wish had never happened Season three.
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other I could see Sarah and Bryce, and Chuck and that girl played by the girl who played Summer on The OC.
7. My happily ever after for them Chuck finds a decent job he likes, Sarah becomes a stunt woman.

4. Oh, crap. I'm still halfway through season 2, and really ought to finish it up soon so I can catch up on season 3. But I know what you mean about the character patterns from season 1--they become painfully obvious when you watch more than two episodes of the season in one sitting. Which, hey, it was the first season, and the second season definitely improved, but I much prefer it when they have one episode of angsting about their relationship going nowhere, and then several episodes where the little things show you how much they care without them having to have the same conversation fifty times over, therefore deflating the subplot of motion and the pairing of any fun.

Also they appear to have missed a giant opportunity with this Shaw character. If Sarah has to date anyone, it should clearly be the sexy Brit MI-6 agent from season 2.

And honestly, for a first season, the character dynamics made sense - but now, they really don't, and the characters just seem really static.

You know, I actually WANTED to ship this more than I ever actually did.

But they never really had romantic chemistry, and then there was Ilsa, who was freaking perfect for Casey, and I started to like Chuck/Sarah a lot more.

Me too! The closest I ever really came was the image of Sarah piled up in sweats sleeping on Casey's couch with an empty carton of Chinese on the table, and him covering her with a blanket. But that really turns more into buddy fic, with the hint of occasional attraction.

my secret crack Casey ships are Casey/Anna and Casey/Ellie, because he kinda digs both of them.

See, the thing about LotS is that, like Farscape (or even more so) the entire show pivots on Richard/Kahlan. Their love is constant, their trust unequivocal, and for Richard to have a romance with Denna destroys something very important about the show. Besides being cliche as hell.

I don't ship this.

Despite the age difference, and him formally being her teacher, it's too easy. I think they're a little too alike - both loving books, both loving academia, both wanting desperately to be liked - that they're not enough contrast between them.

Really? I think they'd have several issues to give their relationship tension. First off, his "furry little problem"- you know he'd have more of a problem with that than her. In the same vein is the age difference, with which he would again take more issue. On Hermione's side, I'd have to say that since she's never spent time with an intellectual equal as a social equal, she'd definitely have a very hard time with that. And I think that they each have any number of little traits that would bug the other to no end.

But not every relationship is about tension and contrast. Some people are very similar, and do well in relationships because of that degree of similarity that some might find absurd. Relationships don't have to be hard, and I think these two characters need something easy after all they've been through.

Of course, making them accept that it really is that easy would be a good source of conflict between the two.

No, not every relationship is about tension and conflict... but reading the books, I don't get any zing between them, you know? So thinking about them in terms of fanon, I ask myself, 'what would make this pairing interesting enough that I don't want the characters pairing with anyone else?' and for me, I don't really have a good answer.

Although I agree about it being very, very interesting to see Hermione interacting with someone who is her intellectual equal.

Faith/Buffy

5. What moment I wish had never happened In comics season 8 where Buffy sleeps with a chick who isn't Faith.
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other For Faith, Wesley, for Buffy, Angel. (The show ruined Spike/Buffy for me.)
7. My happily ever after for them Honestly? Faith gets in a relationship with Wesley, and I don't care what happens to Buffy.

They really aren't comfortable with each other, and I mostly blame that on Buffy. She's always been The Slayer, and she doesn't know what to do when "The" becomes "a." So she takes that out on the new Slayer. I'm fairly sure she did the same thing to a lesser degree with Kendra, too. And Faith reacts to that defense mechanism with her own, and conflict grows exponentially. Faith wants to be liked, she just doesn't think she deserves it. Buffy unintentionally uses that against her, which leads to her switching to the dark side.

But if they could ever get past all of that, they'd be so amazing.

I totally agree, and that's a great way to put it.

There is also that factor that, especially in later seasons, Buffy is well aware that Faith wants what she has, even if Faith isn't pursuing it anymore. Honestly, I think Faith will always want to BE Buffy more than she could ever WANT Buffy.
