This is gacked from half my flist.

The right side of my mouth is still one of the low levels of hell (but luckily, I was actually able to eat most of lunch today!) So distract me.

Ask me something. Anything.

What's the first movie/show/book/whatever you wrote fanfic for?

And for a double-whammy, which has been your favorite fandom for fic?
Friday, July 6th, 2007 05:49 am (UTC)
Well, mentally, I've been writing fanfic for as long as I can remember - I distinctly recall doing imagining fanfic with Indiana Jones, which I first saw when I was..... 2d grade? Something like that.

The first time I realized that -wait a minute people actually write this down and post it? Was when i discovered online fandom with Buffy, which was, technically, the first fandom I wrote fic for (nothing good, I knew I didn't have Buffy ic even when I first wrote it.)

Favorite fandom for fic.... I'd have to say that would either be Harry Potter or FMA. With both of those fandoms, there was a nice big pool of both the ships I wanted, and enough alternative ships to enjoy. While I'll have OTPs in a fandom, I do enjoy a good alternative ship now and then. By the time I left that fandom, I was enjoying the Draco/Ginny, Draco/Hermione, and the Snape/Hermione more than I did the Ginny/Harry or the Hermione/Ron.

Hee, I was the same way. I used to make up stories in my head as far back as Rainbow Brite (which would have put me at 5 or 6 I believe.)

True fans where acting fannish long before they found fandoms. ^_^

And I think I wanted to name my cat Rainbow Bright once, but she already had a name and mom vetoed that idea.
Saturday, July 7th, 2007 03:37 pm (UTC)
lol I actually did convince my mom to name a cat Custard after Strawberry Shortcake's cat. XD In retrospect though...he really wasn't much of a Custard... ;D
Sunday, July 8th, 2007 05:27 am (UTC)
Was that part of Rainbow Bright's cadre? *remembers nothing aside from the name and the bright, bright animation.*
Sunday, July 8th, 2007 04:39 pm (UTC)
No, Strawberry Shortcake was a different series. :D

I'm a child of the 80s. What can I say? XD

'If the animaters hadn't been drawing on acid we wouldn't have the strong attraction to neon colors that we do now?'

*snort*

Thank god I hate neon, huh? XD

Do you consider yourself a feminist?
If yes, why? If no, why?
Wednesday, July 4th, 2007 04:59 am (UTC)
OF COURSE! *flabergasted and appalled that this even needs to be a question in our society*

Being a feminist means that you think that women deserve equal rights with men, and I can't think of any women in our society, even those you say they aren't feminists, who actually do, 'you know, I don't want to be paid as much as a man' or 'I spend more on a car' or 'my value as a human being is less than that of a man' or 'wehter my reproductive organs are on the inside or outside should determine my jobs.'

It pisses me off beyond belief that feminist has become a dirty word in are culture, and that people are thinking the women's moment is done and finished, because it's not. I can list so many instinces of institudalized sexism in our culture. However, I'll just leave with with:

HELL YES, I'M A FEMINIST!

because otherwise my blood pressure is going to get really high.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! I thought so. *full of happy happy joy joy*
I've been diving into a lot of feminist sites lately, so the subject's been on my mind, especially regarding fandom.

I really need to do some poking around Girl Wonder.
Friday, July 6th, 2007 05:56 am (UTC)
The most recent post- here (http://girl-wonder.org/girlsreadcomics/?p=82) -is a good one. I dragged brother to the moniter a while back and read several aloud to him, mostly the art comparison articles.
Saturday, July 7th, 2007 08:19 am (UTC)
I read that one. I can't tell if I'm more furious or sad.

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
Wednesday, July 4th, 2007 04:53 am (UTC)
If a woodchuck could chuck wood, he would chuck a wood-chuck's weight of wood.

If you could alter an arc or an ending of an anime or manga how would you rewrite it?

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007 04:25 am (UTC)
If I could change something, I'd change the way the anime or the movie ended. I want a utterly happy ending, with both Elric brothers with their memory on the Amestris side of the the Gate. Also, I would have really liked some reason for why Roy suddenly felt the need to go off to the North, because while I can fanwank it, I little more reasoning from the writers of the movie would have been nice.

Who do you consider a personal hero or role model - either/or real or fictional?

Also, that quote in your subject line is so often misquoted. XD I thought it was that way too once, until I looked up who said it for citation for a fic I was doing.

"Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no fibs."
- Oliver Goldsmith, She Stoops to Conquer (act III)
Friday, July 6th, 2007 05:37 am (UTC)
This is going to sound corny, but my real life role model is my mother. She is truly to credit for me becoming the woman I am today. She's gone through so much both just because of her life and in order to give me a better life/childhood than she had, and I'm just so, so lucky to have her as my mom.

Also, thanks for that - I didn't know that it had been paraphrased, or where it originated. (I remember it from a childhood nursery rhyme.)

You listen to Within Temptation?! Like...The soprano awesome woman band?!

Duuude....

(I've never heard that song by them though xD. I wonder if it's the same song Placebo has out right now..)
Saturday, July 7th, 2007 07:17 am (UTC)
Well, I listen to that song... I actually think that's the only one of them I have. You'll have to rec me some of their other songs.

Which are your favorites?

And it possibly is the same song - I know of at least three diffrent covers of "running up that hill."
