Seriously... I can't think about - much less flesh out - a character before they have a name. A name is so much a part of who a character is, and you can pick a name based on who they are... but you can also build a character based on the name. I learned so much more about Mary Charlotte Morgan, for instance, after I decided (discovered?) that her name was Mary Charlotte Morgan.

I am the COMPLETE opposite. I tend to have a character pretty much fully fleshed out but be missing either the first or last name (sometimes BOTH) and by that point I know very well which names WON'T work but I won't have a clue what name will.
