First, before I forget again, [personal profile] smillaraaq, what was the metal you suggested for earrings that was totally inert and would help my ears heal, if I had a metal sensitivity?

Secondly, for mzminola:

Also, you might find this picture of Sokka amusing. And if you want more Sukki/Sokka ones, check out my favorites on that site - I just when on a spree looking for that pairing.

Titanium or niobium. (Well, platinum's also supposed to be great if you have the budget for it...)

Niobium's kind of hard to find in stud earrings, strangely enough, but you can get very simple titanium studs that are pretty inexpensive -- Fire Mountain Gems (http://www.firemountaingems.com/details.asp?PN=K114378FN) has them with three different crystal settings, and Claire's sells a few different styles of titanium piercing studs; I've never had any problems walking in and asking to just buy a set of the earrings for wear without getting pierced.

(Eeek, are your ears flaring up? *hugs*)

Yes, they are. One is perfectly healed, and the other isn't, and I so, so, so want pierced ears. I'm going to be furious if I end up having to just let them (both) heal over.

One of the best sketches ever. Second only to the secret ending that I hope will have the 'Spoiler!' bits removed when they stop being spoilery.

Have I seen the secret ending? I think I have, but....

[identity profile] fairest1.livejournal.com 2008-01-31 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Possibly. Think I linked it to you a while back. It was the one where Agatha requested Gil treat her as an autonomous person who's also totally hot.

In that last panel, I want to pat Gil on the head and give him a cookie.

It's funny, when I first started reading, I was firmly set against Agatha and Gil a a couple. It just struck me as over-done. and I was in middle-school. Now though, since we know the characters more, I don't mind it at all.
I like how Agatha tends to be determined and smug when she's sparky, and then delighted when it works. Gil is so perky about his creations, it's nice. Cheerful mad scientists!

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 08:24 am (UTC)(link)
Really? I thought Agatha/Gil was a great example of the authors clearing writing an OTP that worked. They truly are so, so perfect for each other.

I know! They're the Kaylee's of semi-psychotic geniuses!

It was my first time actively participating in a fandom, and I was younger. I was more concerned with wild theories about who Gil's mom was, paying too much attention to turns of phrase, and trying and failing not too sound like an idiot on the e-mail fan group I was in.
I don't remember when I stopped minding the thought of Gil and Agatha eventually ending up together, probably around the time he was showing off the mechanical orchestra. I'd be ameniable to them staying good friends, or hooking up at this point.

Omigosh they are. We need crossovers. *nodnod* Jayne would get along with the Jaegers, yes?

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, did you come up with any good theories about Gil's mom? (Personally, I suspect that Gil was made by Klaus, and doesn't really have a mother.)

For me, it Gil and Agatha don't hook up... I'll be really surprised, and a little snippy. It's kind of like.... Katara/Aang if they actually had chemisty, you know? Like, this has been set up from the beginning, and it would really kind of suck if there was no payoff.

Oh, Jayne and the Jaegers would get along like a house on fire.

Klaus did mention once that "I haven't seen my wife in years" so I like to think Gil has a mommy.
I think with when the America's dropped contact, the timing was off for it to be Thundering Engine Woman. I'll have to check the Blueprints next time I'm home.
Part of that was she sounds really cool, and I hoped she would show up at some point.

Ah.

He even has a hat!

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2008-01-28 09:03 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, well if he did.... Yeah, I bet there's a wife out there somewhere.

And I second the request for Thundering Engine Women. I love that picture of her with the train and the giant wrench.

Yes! He has a hat! And would kill a man in a fair fight. Or if he looked like he was going to start a fair fight. Or if there was a women.

Oh, Gil. I love how Agatha brings out the crazy sexy madboy in his normally dweeby self.

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2008-01-26 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
And there's just so much crazy sexy mad boy THERE for her to inspire.
