I wouldn't care to explain shipping Damian Wayne/Stephanie Brown to someone who I don't already know ships it. ("No, but see, like, when he's older - okay, he's still going to be an asshole, but he's such an entertaining, rich, handsome asshole, you know they get away with murder, and like, if Steph is fucking him, there's this whole winning and legacy thing going on, plus I like the idea of Steph getting a hot younger man and then they're personalities bounce off each other nicely... And okay, he's dead NOW, but....")

Ava/Boyd: So I was really tempted to stick Ava and Boyd in the 'worst thing that ever happened to each other slot' only I can't because THEY ARE THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO EACH OTHER. He is the one dangerous man (and Ava has always been attracted to dangerous men) who actually loves, respects, and will not hurt her, and she is the woman Boyd, with all his changing, has always loved and desired. I cannot tell you how many feelings I get when I think of Boyd honest-to-fucking-god being pleased that Ava was fierce enough to kill her-husband-his-brother and how when he made his amends to Ava, he knew exactly how he'd done her wrong, and then she gave him a home when he needed it. And then they decided to do crime together. BONNIE AND CLYDE OF HARLEN COUNTY.

I really need to catch up on Justified.

It's AMAZING. I can't say enough good things about it. It's one of those things I wish I had written while at the same time knowing I could have never written.

I know. Every time I re-read it I get blown away and simultaneously really self-conscious about my own writing. :P

I kinda wish there was more C/N fic like that being written at the moment. A lot of the fic now is fluff, which is fine (and I'm writing a fluffy AU so I really can't talk), but I'd love some fics with a bit more grit.

One of my complains about the Clint/Natasha fandom is that I don't think it always writes the couple the fics it deserves. (or the fics I want to read, I should say.) I think a lot of writers don't write Natasha right, and as you said, A LOT OF FLUFF. (Some of which is IC and some of which isn't.)

There was a lot of great, IC fic in the beginning, but that dwindled as the fandom slowed down and writers moved on to other fandoms (which is fair enough). Natasha is really tricky to get right, I still struggle with her voice.

I have this theory that the more time passes between canon and fandom, the more people start to rely on common fanfic tropes and characters get warped further and further away from their canon incarnations. There's so much fluff right now that finding fic which acknowledges the characters' dark sides (not even dark!fic!) is a rarity.

Tyler/Caroline! :D I adored Caroline immediately and he was terrible (omg his treatment of Vicki) and yet. It is healthy and great and I love that her lust-in-overdrive is a totally acknowledged, important part of bringing them together and making them a match for each other.

With Tyler, I think they successfully showed that while Tyler was not a good person when the show started, he believable changed, and saw that he needed to be better.
