Except this, which is another example of why it literally makes me see red when I hear girls say they aren't feminists. Like, what, you want to to be paid 3/4 or less of what a man is for the same amount of work while simultaneously spitting on everything you mother did to get you where you are now? Get the hell out of my gender. (And yes, I DO understand some of the stereotypes that are attached to the word 'feminist' but what it actually means is that you think men and women are equal, and disassociating yourself from that is a HUGE step backward, imho.)

On a happier note, check out the translation of the book Rue drops in episode 5 of Princess Tutu. (Translation is in the comments.) Now, I wibble a lot over Rue, but this just makes me wibble harder.

Also, this is totally a Fakir song:

See, I can understand choosing to call ones self an 'equalist' intead of a feminist, but I have to admit to a visceral, gut reaction of being annoyed with how many women are setting aside the word feminist.

Paritally because I feel that it disassocaites with all our foremothers who fought for the rights we all have, and partially because I feel that it somehow implicitly implies that sexism is... less of a blatant, specific problem than it is.

Now, I'm not saying that men don't have unfair things to deal with regarding our culture, but they certainly don't have anywhere near the systematic pressures against them that women do.

And nothing gets me more frustrated than girls going, 'I'm not a feminist' with no codial, or instead of 'I actually label myself as...'

And Rue just gets more and more huggable as the series goes on.

And I just want to add, because I'm afraid that this comes off more... instructive? than I want it to, that this is all only my personal reasons for referring to myself this way.

Don't worry, I totally get it.

Bleah. I've seen enough girls do that, especially in a "the boys like me because I'm not one of those feminists" way, that I can understand the frustration. Ladies, respecting yourselves should not be that stigmatic.

Yes! God! That! It makes me crazy! It's like, you can be a feminist and a.) like boys and b.) shave your legs. Trust me on this; I know whereof I speak.
