I just finished my long, luxurious reread of The Hunger Games and Catching Fire.
–I kind of ship Haymitch/Effie. They would have epic annoyed!sex.
–On the subject of Haymitch, I believe him when he said he likes Peeta more than Katniss, but I think he loves Katniss like a daughter, even if he doesn't want to. Rereading the scene after the Quarter Quell, I think that he was expecting Katniss to try and talk him into taking Peeta's place, and that if she had, he would have be willing to sacrifice himself to get Katniss home.
–While I can see why people ship Madge/Gale (and think it's more interesting that Gale/Katniss for some of the same reasons Katniss/Peeta is) it still feels like a classic case of shipping the spares.
–Once again, while I'm rooting for Peeta/Katniss, I'm unable to deny how awesome Gale/Katniss is. And before anyone suggests it, this is a place where OT3 would be a terrible, terrible idea.
–Knowing it was coming, having Katniss go back into the arena seemed less of a repeat than it did last time. Although I think all the most interesting things happened before they get inside the dome.
On the subject of a movie, I am actually very excited. I would love a bigger fandom, I think my status as someone who got hooked on the books before the third one was released and pimped the hell out of the series would qualify me for Old Fandom Queen status and I would like live action icons NOT based on dream casting.
That said, even though I want her to be write, this article is made of fail. First of all, Gale wasn't the one who taught Katniss to hunt. She doesn't 'owe Gale and Prim' her life. (If she owes that to anyone, it would be Peeta, frankly.) She may be the underdog but she certainly isn't below-average. What the hell, writer?
In news that doesn't raise my blood pressure:

We have a cover and a title for the third and final book. And it's lovely (even if my inner nitpicker is going, 'but mockingjays have a black body).

I know you posted this two months ago but.......
*head desk* WHY did I do this?! ARGH! I love Peeta and Katniss already, and I'm not even that far into the first book yet (they've started training) but GAH! if they don't end up together, I'm gonna have a seriously big problem, and be very upset. but yeah, I got sucked into them, dang it!
Re: I know you posted this two months ago but.......
Sweet! I am THRILLED that another person is reading these books on my flist - it doesn't matter how old the post is, I'm delighted to be talking about them.
So far, the author has impressed me enough that I think I'll live with however she decides to end her books... but I'm really rooting for a K/P ending.
Feel free to pop in randomly with thoughts as you read or when you finish the books. ^_^
