There was a post going around tumblr that really got under my skin - it was a fairy accurate summary of the king and lionheart dynamic, but the line about not being able to find a example with a lady just***... triggered all my past experience of people dismissing het and femme-slash because [pick a square from your slash fangirl bingo card, pick any square].

*** I also want to note that the person I linked from tagged this post 'Kate/Clint' SO CLEARLY I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WHO THINKS THAT THIS DYNAMIC EXISTS WITH LADIES.

So, queen and lionheart dynamics. The examples that came to mind:

Lydia/Allison (Teen Wolf)
Sabriel/Touchstone (Sabriel, bolded because so much yes.)
Tremaine/Ilias (although that's more spy/lionheart)
Mulan/Aurora (Once Upon A Time)
Jane/Darcy (would be the super-fluffy version of this trope)
Any Evil Queen/Huntsman story would be the evil example of this trope
I'd accept a case for Hermione/Ron here.
I think a case could also be made for Cameron/John from TSCC.
Richard/Cara (LOTS)

But I came across this icon recently and this gif five minutes ago, and I am just like, hot damn both of those things are epically awesome.

Also, I just changed my default icon and journal layout.

ended up having several really long conversations with [ profile] qualapec today, the relevant (to fandom) portions of which involved:

  • me bitching about the deep, inherent, not-even-solvable-by-casting-Idris-Elba script problems with Blade: Trinity

  • who would you kill if you could kill one dude from Teen Wolf? (I voted Peter Hale, killed by Allison and Lydia)

  • one thing I forgot to mention; besides the fact that I do not understand the point of a tumblr queue, I could never have a tumblr queue because I cannot think of a quip enough queue tag, unlike all the epic tumblrs with perfect and brilliant and referential queue I follow.

  • various Teen Wolf ships, emphasis on Malia/Stiles and Lydia/Stiles and Allison/Isaac

  • qualapec wondering if Loki fangirls will jump on the Bucky Barnes train. my thought is the Loki fangirls are either already on board the Bucky Barnes train and what we will see in fandom is an explosion of Steve/Bucky. The only question regarding Winter Soldier is how much hate Natasha and Sharon will get, and which one fandom is going to hate more. (Spoiler alert, it's going to be Sharon. Natasha will be relegated to being SO AWESOME but her relationship with Steve and/or Bucky is STRICTLY PLATONIC. Which is for the best, because Natasha is just TOO AWESOME TO BE DATING ~CAPTAINS AMERICA~ *eyeroll*)

  • my deep and heartfelt lament that Steve/Bucky fanfic is almost invariably well-written and is the most tropperiffic fanfic to have ever been written in the history of fandom. In other news, there is no god.

I have lost the original comment, but someone was feeling demoralized about the lady of queer ladies on her screen, so I wanted mention that YOU NEVER HAVE TO ACCEPT LACK OF QUEER LADIES (OR DUDES) ON YOUR SCREEN, and also through out some queer lady recs:

Bomb Girls (two of the four main characters are lesbians)

Orphan Black (a reoccurring character is a lesbian, and she actually gets a really interesting romance)

This post with a fuckton of movies with lesbians.

The Arrow episode Heir of the Demon (with a couple quibbles).

Chicago Fire has a main character who is a lesbian.

I’d check out the Adventure Time episodes with Marceline The Vampire Queen and Princess Bubblegum (uncanon, but only because the network wouldn’t let the show go there).

There is also 2 Broke Girls, which skews more towards the 'queer-bait' end of the spectrum, but has some really slashy moments between the leads.
