I watched Dredd friday night, which is a total, total B movie, but a fun one, even if it's a crying shame that we don't get to see Karl Urban's beautiful eyes. Lena Headly was a fantastic villain, the girl-rookie character had a nice arc where she took a level in badass. Warning: there is some sexual violence/threat of sexual violence, which I actually thought was very satisfying turned back against one of the villains.

"Lit" being a genre just like "fantasy" and "science fiction" are genres is a subject near and dear to my heart. Which is to say, I LOVED this article.

Space Girl: a multi-fandom vid about the amazing ladies of sci-fi over (I estimate) about sixty years.

THIS MADE ME SO HAPPY.

YOU SHOULD ALL WATCH IT RIGHT NOW.

I saw Pitch Black with my mom last night.

It was awesome.

Oh, sci-fi, how I love you. (And both of us were like 'omg Aeryn!' when Claudia Black spoke her first line and before she even came into focus. And then I called that the female lead was a native Australia despite the American accent she was using.)

If, you know, you're not out tearing up the town.

Progressives (and Obama) Are Doing Better Than We Think. A list of the changes the Obama Administration has already enacted.

More BS About POC and Sci-Fi with copious links. (I haven't read through all of the posts yet.)

Is Africa Ready For Science Fiction? (The title sounds kind of racist but the article totally isn't and provides excellent insight into sci-fi, speculative fiction, and cultural differences.)
