And my first thought was 'oh my god, she could play Kate Daniels.' I mean, it would depend, of course, on how well the actress can do 'violence constantly simmering under the surface' but the face is pretty perfect, imho.

The library has treated me really well, lately. I am currently reading the very last President's Daughter (better than it sounds) book and the third Kate Daniels book.

What I love about Ellen Emerson White (who wrote Long May She Reign, which I'm reading now, and The Road Home, forever one of my favorite books ever) is that White writes about the aftermath of trauma. Her characters live through horrible things and then their struggle is how to put themselves back together again and learn how to function and it's AMAZING. On the note, I am praying that I can get someone to write me a Yuletide for about Meg and Preston. MAKE THAT HAPPEN, INTERNETS.

Also, it's been a really long time since I read Magic Bites... does that book explain what's forbidden about Kate's genetics?

I recently finished Magic Burns, which I really, really enjoyed. I particularly enjoyed one subversion of a really annoying trope. (I'll keep it vague.) Basically, two alpha male characters who are nominally on the same side get into a smack-down, my-penis-is-bigger-than-yours fight. The heroine makes no attempt to break it up, deciding that since they're not going to kill each other, they might as well pound on each other until they get bored, she has better things to do than watch or referee.



Bravo, Kate Daniels, bravo.
