This meme was absolutely, unapologetically filthy, there is no way I'm passing it up.

From brbshittoavenge:

Send me a pairing and a number and I'll write you a ficlet about one....

  1. … grinding up against the other

  2. … moaning the other’s name

  3. … stripping off

  4. … sexting

  5. … being drenched whilst wearing white

  6. … leaping into the other’s arms

  7. … pinning the other against a wall

  8. ... pinning the other down

  9. … tying up the other

  10. … spanking the other

  11. … having a “friend” over and the other accidentally interrupting

  12. … flashing the other

  13. … having a wet dream and about the other

  14. … leaving hickeys on the other’s neck

  15. … trying to play footsie with the other during a meeting

  16. … trying to go down on the other, under the table, during dinner

  17. ... just going down on the other, in general

  18. ... denying orgasm

  19. ... talking during sex about something non-sexual

I am not ready to commit to a holiday meme, but there were some great tropes here that I wanted to keep on my LJ, in case I have more time suddenly/no one prompts things I want to write at the currently running or upcoming fanfic comment memes.

Okay! I am really in the mood for writing (and hopefully reading!) some holiday-themed ficlets. Pick a trope from this list and provide a fandom/pairing and I’ll write you a snippet from the story I would write or give you a summary of it or SOME COMBINATION THEREOF.

  1. Getting snowed in (possibly with no power!) and CUDDLING FOR WARMTH

  2. Accidental mistletoe feelings!

  3. Sappy late night Christmas tree light watching cuddling and make-outs and also boning

  4. Drunk work Christmas parties

  5. Sharing weird or new family traditions with each other!

  6. Christmas sweaters/blankets/getting bundled up to go out into the snow

  7. Decorating together!

  8. Cooking/baking together!

  9. Realizing feelings when watching someone interact with family/children!

  10. Lonely at the holidays and thinking you’re alone but then you’re not (found family)

  11. Separated at each other’s family and then one person makes the drive/flight and surprises them

  12. Fake!dating or bringing someone home for the holidays!

I was reading tv tropes' page on Defrosting The Ice Queen, which (unsurprisingly, as it's often a subset of ruthless girl/emotional open guy) is a trope I really enjoy. Whoever wrote that entry really nailed the ways it functions as wish fulfillment in two different directions:

More emotionally open character: "He/She doesn't hate me, she's just waiting for me to prove my love is true."

Or

Ice Queen: "A warm and caring love interest will fall in love with me and bring me fulfillment and happiness."

(I edited the above to be more gender inclusive.)

I have really been craving jealousy-fic recently. Does anyone have any recommendations? (Fanfic or fiction, either works.)

I blush to admit it, but I seriously love fics with an element of jealousy, especially when combined with a side of pining. I love it when Character A doesn't realize he/she is in love with Character B until they start dating someone else, I love it when Character A knows that there isn't any reason to be jealous or they're being irrational but can't stop, I love it when Character A gets handsy and possessive in a situation where they don't totally have the right to*.

*If this is combined with fake!dating or fake!married it's EVEN BETTER. 'How dare character Y touch my pretend!spouse! Even though I am not actually married, I am feeling exactly as possessive and territorial as if I were. I'm not going to reflect to hard on that; instead I'll just glare and/or pointedly touch my fake!spouse.'

Dear Yuletide Author,

First of all, let me sincerely say that I requested fandoms and characters I absolutely love, so please do not feel at all wedded to my insane optional details. Ignore them all entirely, pick and choose what works for you, optional details are optional.

If you're looking for more insight into general tropes that I like, check out my tag of bulletproof kinks. (Short list: banter, sex against walls, competency, characters respecting each other, tragic backstories, biting/love marks.)

Things I do not like: noncon, ladies needed to be saved, ladies being treated disrespectfully by the narrative, bleak and hopeless endings.

If you haven't seen it, Thor 2 trailer.

(masterlist of prompts)

(past answers)

Day 13: The ship you love for the way they hurt each other.

Irina Derevko and Jack Bristow.

Okay, I'll admit, if we're tallying up who hurt who more, Irina is probably going to win by a mile. That said, Jack did shoot that doppleganger he truly thought was her, that one time.

Day 14: The ship you love for the angst, banishing all joy and sunlight.

Lila and Cassel, the Curse Workers series. I was actually just thinking about way that I could get more people to read this series (the first book is White Cat by Holly Black). Fandom would love the book series and this relationship. It has:

  • a badass lady

  • the snarky, self-loathing guy who loves her ridiculously

  • dubious consent treated like the serious thing it is while also being fucking romantic as fuck

  • the girl

  • trying to 'get over' her feelings for the guy by having sex with someone else

  • the guy thinking he is a complete monster and still struggling to make the most moral choices he can, despite his fucked up ethics.

(Oh, also, the main character? I'm 99% sure he's black.)

(Also, side rant: the first two original covers for this series are AWESOME and I still haven't bought the third book because LITERALLY NO ONE sells the awesome third cover, they just have the terrible rebooted cover. So I'm going to wait and hope they reboot the covers again so I can find one that sucks less than these.)

Day 15: The couple that are at their moral worst when around each other.

I had the hardest time coming up with a good answer for this. The thing is, I don't tend to ship bad guy/good guy pairings, so I don't have examples of couples who get together and go on a crime spree. The closest answers I have are Zuko and Katara and Jeff and Annie for the exact same reason. Excuse me while I talk about one of my favorite tropes:

Something that sets my shipper sense tingling is when a female character is comfortable enough with a male character that she doesn't need to be "good" around him. He is the person who is going to go with her on a roadtrip of revenge. He is the person she is going to behave like a selfish adult around.

Basically, when a female character is so comfortable with a male character that she shows him her darkest, unglies parts and his reaction is, 'let me start the car,' I'm hooked.

(Does that make sense?)

  • bare feet

  • a lady wearing the shirt that belongs to her lover

  • making sure your love interest is eating regularly

  • accompanying your love interest on a revenge quest

  • going into battle with your love interest

  • banter

  • 'I'm so upset that I need to have sex with you right now... but don't think that I have romantic feelings for you, because I don't.'

  • mutually unrequited relationships

  • "...you think a Princess and a guy like me..." (BIG YES.)

  • up-against-the-wall sex (bonus points if this takes place in an ally)

  • saying 'I love you' without actually saying 'I love you.' ("I owe him a debt." "I have a new dream/you are my new dream." "As you wish.")

  • forehead kisses

gacked from [livejournal.com profile] lady_with_cats:

1. 5 TV shows you watched from the very start (that may or may not have gotten better).

I cannot think of even ONE tv show that I watched from the beginning (like, saw the first episode before it aired, kept watching). Pretty much every show I’ve ever watched has involved me finding about it after it’s been airing for a while and/or already been canceled. The exceptions are Alias (which I watched the pilot and the first couple of episodes when it was first airing and then my mom made me stop watching and I later watched in college) and Wonderfalls (which I watched from the pilot until it was canceled, three episodes later.

2. what playlists do you have on your phone/media player/mp3 player etc?

About a billion. The ones of interest to you, dear reader, is that I have several fannishly specific ones:

I Learned Love From Sacrifice (MCU, heavy on Natasha-centric songs)
Beautiful Car-Crash Of A Boy (Clint Barton)
Soul Eater (Soul Eater)
Four Elements (Avatar)
Alias (songs played on Alias)
Veronica Mars (ditto)

I also have several playlists for individual writing projects and then a bunch of other playlists that are basically like songs grouped together for ease of listening.

3. favourite tumblr tags (that you have on your tumblr).

two master assassins in love, which I also use on livejournal, and red room romance, for stuff relating to Natasha/Bucky. Most of my other tags are either ‘fandom name’ or ‘stock’ or ‘hell yes’ for pretty people.

4. IS BREAKING BAD REALLY THAT GOOD? I MEAN. REALLY?

Since I don’t watch it, I wouldn’t know.

5. something you can't stand but everyone else loves (be it food, a tv show, a ship etc).

BBC Sherlock. Slash. Coconut. Bananas.

6. do you regularly quote any catch phrases from pop culture? (e.g. "he is terrible face wise")

I regularly quote pop culture (in fact, for years, trying to stump each other with quotes from movies or tv was the game my mom and I played whenever where were bored) but I wouldn’t say I’ve adopted any consistent catch phrases.

7. a song you never get tired of.

So many. Too many to list.

8. something from etsy you really want but can't afford.

I say away from etsy. And we were just talking about my consistent case of fannish buyer’s remorse.

9. a fandom you wished was bigger/had more fanworks.

I’d get slapped if I suggested that the Avengers fandom needed to be any bigger but I’d really like the fanficcers with a deft touch for fucked up people in love to start writing for Clint and Natasha again. Because it’s been a long, long time since I’ve read a deliciously dark, explicit-as-fuck fanfic for those two. Lately it’s all been sunshine and babies and Winter Soldiers. Or, you know, in-character gen where they’re platonic. Seriously, the most ‘oooooh,’ Clint/Natasha I recently read was (nonconsecutively) about six paragraphs as a background pairing in a Steve/Bucky fanfic that I read. THINK ABOUT THAT SENTENCE FOR A MINUTE, PEOPLE. THINK ABOUT EVERYTHING IT IMPLIES.

10. a tv show you're one going to watch, ONE DAY.

I’ve watched the first three episodes of Friday Night Lights. That’s as far as I’ve gotten. I’ve tried to watch Farscape twice, and don’t understand why I don’t love it.

11. Three tropes you love.

Using sex to block out emotional pain while being in denial about how much the person you're with means to you.
Ruthless, violent, competent women and the more emotionally open badass men who love them.
Friends to lovers. (Actually, I would love a really good friends-to-lovers story at the moment.)

(Anyone who enjoyed reading this meme should totally do it themselves, switching out questions they found dull for questions they actually want to answer.)

I think Code Name Verity has ruined me for all other WWII romances because each time I try to read a novel set in WWII - novels that come with recommendations! - I am terribly, terribly disappointed.

Anyone have recommendations for good WWII romantic adventure novels?

Things I like:
  • Ladies having agency and being active both within the narrative and within the world they're living in.
  • Attractive gentleman who like ladies with agency.
  • Actions! Adventure! Air raids! Passion! Longing!
Things I don't like:
  • "romantic heroes" who have to be convinced that the heroine is his equal.
  • the author's religious beliefs dripping from every page.
